His special features include pop-up weapons and arm-to-cannon conversion. His bio reads:

"OPTIMUS PRIME may think him a coward, but STARSCREAM never flees a fight out of fear alone. Every retreat is calculated to keep him alive long enough to return and destroy his opponents with overwhelming power. As long as the AUTOBOTS seek him in force, he will remain hidden. As soon as OPTIMUS PRIME ventures out alone, however, STARSCREAM will strike."

Battle Hooks Optimus Prime is similar to the first release of the Leader Class ROTF Optimus Prime figure, with a few exceptions. Most notable are his battle damage paint apps, his mouthplate-less "Commander Mode Head" (previously used on the single release of the Buster Optimus Prime figure), and his new "Snap-Out Battle Hooks" in place of his swords. his bio reads:

"OPTIMUS PRIME is under no illusions about how dangerous STARSCREAM really is. The DECEPTICON second-in-command might be a coward, but he's still smart and powerful enough to present a real threat to Earth. As soon as they find him, though, it will be OPTIMUS PRIME alone who goes in to bring him down."

Battle Ops Bumblebee is the latest installment in the Bumblebee toy army that stands as tall as a Leader Class figure. Though it's been referenced in cartoons and comics, fans have never actually been able to explore the mechanical planet. Now, howvever, its metallic splendor is being fully realized for your gaming enjoyment.

CO-OP
Hard to believe it took this long, but War for Cybertron will be the first Transformers game to offer a fully cooperative campaign mode. Every mission will allow you and two friends to thwart the Decepticons (or crush the Autobots) together online. We're also told that a competitive multiplayer mode will feature "personalization options." We can only hope this means we get to design our own bots.

BACK TO BASICS
Rather than trying to redefine gaming with an interesting but overly ambitious new play style, deverloper High Moon is focusing on a standard action-game formula and emphasizing execution over innovation. Powerful laser weapons, cover-based combat, and frequent, fluid transformations between vehicle and robot forms are all being refined so they'll feel "just right." Oh, and there'll be giant boss robots.

PREQUEL
The classic cartoon depicted in the confilct between the Auto bots and the Decepticons that took place on Earth. War for Cybertron chronicles the battles that occurred before the two factioins reached our planet. The game's storyline actually conculdes where the cartoon's begins, and covers significant moments in Transformers history-including Bumblebee and Optimus' first meeting and why Starscream chose to become a Decepticon.

MAKEOVER
Unrestrained by a movie, license, the game has stepped back from the "extreme" bot designs seen in the Michael Bay films, replacing them with a more classic look. Yes, the characters have been slightly modernized, but they're primarily inspired by the orignal cartoons and should deliver a healthy dose of nostalgia to every child of the '80's. In fact, Hasbro liked the new designs enough to produce a line of toys based on them. Expect to see them in stores right around when the game ships this summer.

Where do you get your news? http://www.unicron.com/news_item/2117 http://www.unicron.com/news_item/2117/ Jason Thu, 04 Mar 2010 21:11:33 CST For ages here at Unicron.com, we've offered news streaming using an RSS feed, but if you're anything like most people I know, you get your news from one of a variety of Social Networking sites. But I think this is a special occasion.

Now, TFW2005.com has some scans and information up of the latest TV Magazine, which has information about Japanese Transformers Animated. It states that TFA will actually be a prequel to the live-action movie series, so it'll be interesting to see how the writers tie it in.

But this is all just filler until the bad part, and our second part of news. You see, Masahiko Yamazaki, a marketing officer working for Takara Tomy related to the series, gave an interview with Figure King recently. He had this to say:

"It might be possible to release the products canceled by Hasbro to the Japanese market"

That means that Hasbro will be canceling some of the TFA toys previously announced to have been released. So who do you think it's going to be? Repaints like Thundercracker and Vortex Blurr? Or even worse, the new molds like Rodimus and Blackout? Let us know what you think in our forums!

(comments in forum)
Transformers: War For Cybertron - Roundup http://www.unicron.com/news_item/2112 http://www.unicron.com/news_item/2112/ Jason Wed, 03 Mar 2010 19:22:42 CST There's all kinds of news on the highly anticipated Transformers videogame "War for Cybertron" that we didn't want you to miss, so get comfy because this game has made quite the splash in the last few days!

• Recap: We already posted this, but if you haven't see the new gameplay trailer, hold on for the ride, and check it out at YouTube (don't miss the 720p resolution option)!

• In a great article from kotaku.com entitled "Transformers: War for Cybertron Preview: A World Without Michael Bay's Robots" we get some great screen caps, more info about how the Multi-player interaction will work, origin stories for Starscream & Jetfire, character special abilities, and more.
