1,000+ Image Upgrade

From the G1 original to Seargent Kup; Trypticon to Masterpiece Grimlock, Rescue Bots to Power Core Combiners (and more!)... The Unicron.com Package Art and Instructions Archives have been updated with well over a thousand new images. Plus, there are now two ways to access these scans; through the archive links on the mainpage, or through the character pages themselves. So for example, if you're on G1 Sideswipe character page, you'll see thumbnails to both the instructions and package art, just beneath the box picture/tech-spec/video review. Each of those thumbnails will bring you to the appropriate page within the package art/instructions archives. Enjoy!

'85 Overhaul Continues

Perceptor, Omega Supreme, Shockwave and more! Major updates await you in the classic era of 1985. 45 totally all-new character pages have been given the new Unicron.com format treatment, are now comprised of:

* toy galleries of over 900 (new) high rez images

* links to instructions, reviews and package art (when available)

* links to video reviews

* character profile, abilities, weaknesses write-ups

* thumbnail galleries of screen captures for each respective character (drawing from our 8,200 image archive of G1 season 2.)

While the year is by no means, "complete" (still have to upload toy galleries of Dinobots, Omnibots...) we thought it's about time to roll out this project so the Unicron.com faithful will have access to it. Enjoy!

1985 Revamp Underway

Check it out! The 1985 Transformers Section has received the "new Unicron.com (format) treatment!" Now available for your permanent reference and viewing pleasure, we have added plot summary and high-rez screen captures from each of the 48 episodes of G1, season 2. This new database of over 8,000 images(!!!) is a great reference by itself, but you should know what's coming next; -- complete integration of images within each toy's respective character page. (Stay tuned!)

Just how classic are all these shows? Well, let me ask; did you think that Dark of the Moon was the first time that Megatron removed honest 'Abe' from the Lincoln Memorial, and used his stone chair as a throne? Were you under the ill-conceived notion that Transformers 3 was the first time that Laserbeak stalked a human operative in their office workplace or Megatron schemed to turn public opinion against the Autobots, then have have them exiled to space, then proceed to enslave humanity? If so, it's time for a G1 mythology review session! Dark of the Moon borrowed many (most!) plot concepts from (season 1) The Ultimate Doom, (season 2) Atlantis Arise, and Megatron's Master Plan parts 1 and part 2.

As I said, stay tuned. A total revamp of every character page in 1985 is coming up next (and fairly soon!)

Toy Previews from Botcon

The Unicron.com 2011 Events Section, has been updated with notes taken at the Hasbro new product panel presentation. Included you will find high res galleries of Kre-O, Rescue Bots, Dark of the Moon and store exclusive figures as well as those toys on display from Transformers Prime. Pictures included everything on display at the Hasbro booth. The notes include information on many toys that we saw pictures of during the panel, but were asked to not take photographs of.

Sightings/Reviews: All NEW!

Our all-new Transformers Reviews & Sightings area has been completely remade, from the ground up. It's been months in the making and it's finally live today! We wanted it live in time for the new waves of DOTM toys (due 5/16), already starting to be found! Everything is still there from our original reviews & sightings sections, but with even more exciting new features (and there's more to come):

New features:

- At-a-glance graphs of sighting frequency over time for each item (sparklines).
- Similar "sparkline" graphs for review ratings (1-10).
- Moderation can now be done by anyone. (Sort of like Wikipedia - you don't have to wait for a moderator.)
- Now you can make reviews or sightings on *anything in the universe*.

That last one not only makes things easier for admins (You don't have to wait for an administrator to put up a new toy before you can sight it.), but it also opens a new world for reviews: What else might we make reviews (or sightings) for? New (or old) Transformers comics? TF Prime episodes? Convention exclusives? Japan or Europe-only products? The sky is the limit. (Actually, why stop there?)

And there's more to come!

The next feature we're planning on making is a comment system. Sometimes reviews can get cluttered with reviews that are really responses to other reviews. This would allow us to comment right on people's reviews without adding clutter.

What other new features would be high on your list to add next? Any comments or suggestions - we'd love to hear them. Let us know by replying on this news announcement.

One last update. We recently found (and fixed) a bug in our gallery system in our "year" pages, where the thumbnail image links weren't expanding into full-sized images. If you've encountered this bug recently, it's fixed now. It's a good time to stop by and explore our old classics (1984) or new & upcoming (2011) sections again, as they were designed to be viewed.

1984 Revamped & Amped!

Unicron.com's 1984 Transformers Section has been totally revamped and upgraded to the new Unicron.com infrastructure system! While it is still not a "finished product" (meaning: several improvements to "the system" are still in the works!) we thought it's about time we bring it to your attention. This is what you'll find:

25 totally redone character pages for the '84 originals

* each page features a new toy photo gallery comprised of over 750 high resolution photographs

* screen captures corresponding that character

* character profile, ability, weaknesses, and "Other _specific-name_ Toy Appearance

Just beneath the "All Toys" listing you'll find media:

* Listing of the 16 episodes of G1, Season 1, each a link to complete photo gallery of that episode

* all in all, there are over 3,100 all new, high resolution images!

Transforers Kre-O Line

We've seen in the pics from Toyfair that Hasbro will be launching the Kre-O line with Transformers. Thanks to this report from MSNBC, we get a little bit more insight into the line and other things. According to the report:

*The initial line will launch with 12 Transformers.
*Each Transformers Kre-O will come with two sets of instructions - 1 for Robot, 1 for Vehicle.
*The Kre-O bricks are fully compatible with Lego and other snap-together bricks.
*The Transformers Kre-O line will range in price from $6.99 - $59.99

According the the report, Hasbro's net income slipped 16% in the last quarter of 2010, and the company is hoping that Kre-O will help them capitalize on a new area of the toy market. You all may remember in 2003, they launched the Built to Rule line with sets based on Transformers Armada, but it was discontinued. Chief Marketing Officer John Frascotti said this was due to the bricks not holding well together and the sets being too difficult for the intended age range. But Frascotti claims that Kre-O line uses a better quality of brick.

So what do you think guys? I have to say, Kre-O Bumblebee looks pretty darn sweet.

Blam! Zowie! Generations Warpath, On The Way!

Japanese fansite Autobase Ichi, has posted resin model images of what appears to be, Generations Warpath! As reported by Allspark.com, these images were submitted to the Japanese patent office for approval! -Wierd! If so, I wonder why so many other toys haven't ever shown up for a similar purpose? Whatever the reason, we get a sweet sneak peak of what's to come.

MechTech "Live!"

An interesting image has appeared on the Takara-Tomy Blog showing a Bumblebee Camaro *with* his "MechTech" weapon! Could this mean that all these toy gimmicks will actually show up live in the film?

Would Mike Bay want to show a bunch of his hot cars driving down the freeway with laser cannons mounted on the roof like that? Or is this simply a promotion for the new toys? Time will tell. Share your thoughts in the forum below!

The Theme of BotCon 2011 will be...

Calling all Transfans. We have an announcement. The theme for the 2011 BotCon convention has finally been unveiled!

Thanks to the Botcon's Twitter page, there have been several hints as to what the theme for this year's convention would be like. Many guesses ranged from Generations, to Reveal the Shield, to Animated, to Shattered Glass, to even the old Transformers in 3-D books by Blackthorne Publishing. But alas, there's only one theme, and so only one guess (including others) is correct.

So, without further ado, the theme for the BotCon 2011 Transformers convention will be...

Possible Generations/RtS Warpath image

Remember that one listing that mentioned a new Warpath figure was to come in a later wave of either the Generations or Reveal the Shield toylines? Well, now we've got what could possibly be our first look at this new Warpath figure in Tank Mode, thanks to ACToys.net.

He appears to be some sort of H-Tank a la Armada Megatron and Animated Shockwave, and could possibly be the form that Warpath bore in the "Rodimus vs. Cyclonus" comic included in the Battle in Space two-pack.

Better images of DOTM Shockwave

Can't get enough of the last images we saw of Dark of the Moon Shockwave? You're in luck, because several brand new images of DOTM Shockwave have shown up once again on ACToys.net.

This time, we see several shots of his Robot And Vehicle modes from all sides and angles (except the bottom). These images show how his cannon is placed on his arm and how he has a flexible tube running from it to his back torso.

Transformers Prime Episode Listings!

Various sites including ‪TVGuide‬ and ‪MSN‬ have new listings with episode titles and summary for the next few episodes of Transformers: Prime! After Darkness Rising 1-5 we get:

6. Master and Students: Starscream uses a distraction to find something far more intriguing.

7. Scrap Heap: Bumblebee and Ratchet eliminate a swarm of Scraplets. -(Could this be? The return of G1 comics legend Scraplets?!)

8. Con Job

9. Convoy (---Interesting title, considering that's what Optimus Prime is called in Japan!)

First true images of DOTM Shockwave!

It has been known for quite some time that none other than the fan-favorite Decepticon mad scientist Shockwave would be the one of (if not the) primary antagonists of the upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie, but thus far, all we had ever really seen of him were some silhouettes and a cutout of his head.

At long last, we finally get our first true glimpse of this "morally ambiguous" bad boy in the form of images of his toy. ACToys.net has fully body images of Shockwave in both his Robot Mode and his Altmode, which appears to be some kind of decked-out Cybertronian tank.

Grapple vs. Grappel - Comparison Images

Still on the fence about which version of Grapple you'd like to purchase? If you've got the cash, but still can't decide, take a look at this. HK-TF has comparison images of the Reveal the Shield Voyager Solar Storm Grappel figure with its United counterpart UN-11 Autobot Grapple.

The main differences between the two are that Grappel has a black head, a rubsign, unique paint apps, whereas Grapple has a yellow head, a tampographed insignia, and different paint apps.

In-package images of United e-Hobby 3-packs

The Transformers: United toyline continues to go on strong with its figures and special exclusives. Among those exclusives are the Autobot and Decepticon United 3-packs from e-Hobby. e-Hobby has updated their order pages for these 3-packs to include images of their packaging artwork.

The Autobot Set shows Hot Rodimus, Autobot Kup, and Scrapheap prepared to engage battle from off to the left of their box.

The Decepticon Set features Galvatron, Cyclonus, and Decepticon Scourge similarly positioned and set to the right of their box.

When placed side-by-side, both packages form a single image with the visage of Quintesson looming in the background.

More Dark of the Moon toys

More images of upcoming toys for the Dark of the Moon toyline have surfaced over at ACToys.net.

First, they have two images of five figures: The green NASCAR Wrecker, the Human Alliance buggy, Deluxe Starscream, Deluxe "Dread", and Voyager Optimus Prime.

Next, they have some comparison images of the new DOTM skids figure with the ROTF Skids figure. Notice that the DOTM Skids appears to be an entire new mold from its predecessor.

Last, but certainly not least, are some better images of Deluxe Starscream, Deluxe "Dread", and the Human Alliance buggy; all transformed more properly than what we've previously seen of them.

Forum Upgrade, and more to come...

Today, we are unveiling our all new upgraded forum featuring a cleaner, more organized, and full screen (variable width) forum theme. Along with this forum upgrade, we wanted to give you all a heads up that soon we will be making an upgrade to our news system which will be bringing some significant changes to both how news posts are handled as well as how comments are made. This next Unicron.com upgrade will primarily entail more fully integrating the Unicron.com Forum into the main website’s structure. Specifically, the news items which display on the main page will soon be handled directly in the forum. In other words, we will be retiring our old news engine in order to more fully integrate our forum community into the site as a whole.

This means that our old comment system currently seen under most news posts (which we have been slowly phasing out) will no longer exist, as clicking into each news item will bring you directly into the forum thread dedicated to that news item. Generations Thundercracker images

ACToys.net has clear close up images of the upcoming Generations Thundercracker figure. A redeco of the Classics Starscream mold (for the eigthteenth time!), this figure sports a color scheme that is similar to that of both the BotCon 2007 Timelines Thundercracker and the Henkei! Henkei! Thundercracker figures, while still different enough to be its own figure.

News to the third power - Masterpiece, DOTM, Reveal the Shield

In an attempt to bring Unicron.com up to speed on the news, we present not one, not two, but three news stories regarding the latest Transformers franchises - Masterpiece, Dark of the Moon, and Reveal the Shield.

First, brand new images of Masterpiece Rodimus Convoy figure have appeared at ON.cc. These images show some of the figure's design feature like his face-swapping gimmick, his new mold Matrix, and the method of changing him into his Rodimus Prime altmode. Not to mention the special collector's coin that comes with him as well.

Second, ComingSoon.net have revealed a list of films whose trailers will be given TV spot airings during the Super Bowl. This list shows that the next trailer for the Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie (the teaser trailer, the last one was an "announcement trailer") will be shown during the game, rather than in a pre-game or post-game airing.

Third, new images of the Reveal the Shield Demolition Rumble have shown up at ACToys.net. In these images, we see both modes, a partial view of its transformation, and most notably of all, his PILE DRIVERS!

Reveal the Shield Optimus Prime remold

And the redecos with remolded heads continue! This time, it's Reveal the Shield Optimus Prime (G2 Laser Rod body) who's remolded head get revealed in his instructions. The image can be viewed over at The Allspark Forums, thanks to David "Walky" Willis of Shortpacked! and TFWiki.net. As to who Optimus is getting remolded into, well...

..It's really difficult to tell! All kinds of crazy guesses are popping up and about, including, but not limited to, Motormaster (it looks kinda like his G1 toy's head), Ultra Magnus, RiD Scourge, Nemesis Prime, Sentinel Zeta Prime, Toxitron, Optimus Primal, Ginrai, Longrack, Tigerhawk, Micromaster Overload... What? I said "crazy". XD

DOTM Starscream and SUV/"Dread" Robot Modes

More and more images of upcoming Dark of the Moon toys just keep pouring out into the Internet. This time, eBay Australia has auctions showing the Robot Modes of the previously seen Starscream and Decepticon SUV/"Dread" figures. However, it would appear that Starscream is horribly mistransformed, and the Dread figure (which actually does sport dreadlocks!) might be incorrectly converted too.

More Dark of the Moon toys

Following up from the last rundown of DOTM toys comes a few more to look at.

First a new mold of Skids has shown up on ACToys.net. He sports his new movie color scheme, a rear spoiler, and a Robot Mode that's noticeably a new mold.

Second, Yahoo! Japan has an auction of what appears to be a redecoed Mechtech version of Deluxe Jolt. Despite previous word that he may not be showing up in the film itself, there can still be new toys of him sold in stores.

Third, another auction has an in-package image of Voyager Optimus Prime. We see both the front and back of the box, showing the starry design and the Mechtech gimmick's function of being large transformable weapons.
