Unicron.com Galleries: TFA Grimlock

Hello fellow fans!  As we fast approach Botcon, the biggest annual convention celebrating all things Transformers, we wanted to let you in on a little (well, BIG!) project we've been working on.  "Unicron.com galleries" have the phenomenal potential of being incorporated into character pages (for example, see all the text links to toy and movie images on this page?  Instead, imagine a nice little thumbail gallery!) as well as pictures to be linked in Events and Interviews reports, Alterations Blog and more...

We've spent months in development behind the scenes, building the infrastructure.  It may not seem like much (Maybe you're thinking, "So what, a thumbnail picture gallery?) but trust me when I tell you, it'll have a very positive impact on the future of our site and its development, making page production much easier and faster which will hopefully/likely lead to more frequent updates!

So before we begin the process of incorporating this technology into various pages, we thought we'd give it a little "test drive."  For your viewing pleasure you can now check out galleries of images taken of Transformers: Animated Grimlock.

Check HERE for his dinosaur mode.
Check HERE for his robot mode.
(Thanks to an anonymous photographer for the images themselves and of course thanks due to Brian //stampy for all the infrastructure development.)

Here are some things to notice.  As you would expect, click on the thumnails to see larger images in either Medium mode (for those with slower internet speed) or Large (full image size) modes, notice how awesomely huge they are! :)  Links just above the "picture frame" allow you to select image size and scroll through the gallery either picture-by-picture or you can click the 'back to gallery' text link below the picture frame to start over.

As we said, this is a "test drive" of our new infrastructure and we welcome your constructive criticism and feedback.  Now is the time to make changes, if any are requested or dreamed up!  What do you think?! :)

See you at Botcon!

Holy crap I love this site. Great pictures, awesome gallery, easy to navigate, nice image sizing functionality. Keep up the outstanding work. Can't wait to see how this is incorporated further!

Very cool stuff, its always nice to see things so organized. Its a great way to weed through all the various pictures and be able to see exactly the ones you want. Such as (and this may seem weird) the back of the figure there arent really to many pictures taken of that side of the toys. To me the back is just as important as the front so you can see how bad the kibble is.

>>and be able to see exactly the ones you want.

Yes and importantly for us, it has the added benefit of not spending our limited (and expensive) bandwidth for you to download images you don't care to see! It's a good deal all around.

thats going to be awesome! can't wait to see a gallery of fortress maximuss! btw, a couple of questions about botcon, are you allowed to leave and come back to botcon if you have to leave to put your figs (the ones that you purchase) back in your hotel room, because i REALLY don't want to have to haul all that around with me! And also, what are the chances of finding an (undead) fox kids repaint of tarantulas there? will some figs not be there, or will there be a wide variaty? I also hope that they bring in the animated figs too so I dont have to go scrounging around for them.

I have been waiting for you guys to get some tfa photos.

Yea me too, Luketroop. Grimlock is one of my favorite TFA figs.

YEEESSSS...

Nice, guys. This is a good one, a very good one indeed.

But, one thing doesn't work for me: the background of the images. The background looks so bland, being all white and dull. One of the things I liked about the character pages was that the images of the toys were in scenery or environments. But this background... this isn't very exciting or appealing.

Now, when shall this overhaul begin?

I'm sure they'll get it all done Sabr, all in good time.

Great Grimlock!

You are right Sabrblade the backround could be better than plain white unlike most of the other characters. Maybe there will be some better pics coming.

It just screams G1 transformation
Tyscream said,  - 2008-04-23 21:08:21
Yes, much like TFA Soundwave, Grimlock resembles the image of G1.

:) Your comments about not liking the white background are interesting to me. (Though there is not much I can do about that. It's part of the photographer's setup...) I think it helps accentuate the details of the toy, but that's just me. So, it sounds like everyone likes the galleries and no one ran into any problems with viewing from various browsers or anything? Cool!

So, is there really NO ONE out there who would be willing to help a 'brother out and sell us a Shattered Glass set for a reasonable/fair price?????

To answer Lord Megatron's question, you can definitely leave and come back to BotCon. You can come and go as you please. Ah, I'm glad you all like the galleries. Keep your eyes pealed for more awesome TFA sweetness to come.
