*UPDATE* Transformers: Cybertron on DVD

Posted by:
TriPredRavage at 2008-07-22 9:58 am

Hey everyone, just a reminder that Transformers: Cybertron the Ultimate Collection came out to DVD today according to Amazon.com.  They are still doing their offer of 33% off, so you can pick up the whole box set for a total of $39.99 rather than the list price of $59.98.  Let's just hope that Energon follows suit and makes it on the shelves as well!

UPDATE:
So, I managed to pick the set up today as I was out and about and as I started watching it, I discovered something very peculiar.  Episode #3 Hidden is missing the first 7 mins of the episode!  You all may recall that this is the episode that was on the DVD that came with the figures back in the day, so the odds are you have a disc with the complete episode, but it's still rather shocking.  I don't know if this is only on my copy, but it sure seems like the first seven minutes were excluded from the burning process.  If anyone else gets a copy of the set and finds a similar situation, please let us know!  Just a reminder, the episode is supposed to start off with Bud with the submarine TFs, Lori is with the stoplight (Signal Lancer), and Coby is with the Blurr cars.  Again, let us know if your copy is missing this footage as well.  I'll also be sure to update if I find any other discrepencies.

It's the whole series, Luketroop. And I don't know if it'll get cheaper than $20 off, at least not for a while.

huh, I don't know if I'll pick it up, considering that I already have all of the episodes recorded via DVR.

This seems like a really good set. And the cover art is something I'd expect to come only from a Japanese set. I wonder what features it has.

That would be the one and only reason, other than to complete the series, I would want to own it on DVD.

Well, Lord Megs, the way I see it, if you gewt this DVD set, you can have lots more room to record other stuff on your DVR.

That what's I'm doing with Animated. I have the whole series (sans Season 3) recorded, but I'm getting the DVDs to make more room for me to record stuff (and Animated really takes up a lot of room on my DVR).

You know, there's a real part of me that feels like we're never going to have a season 3. If it hasn't been confirmed as of yet, I just don't know if there will be. That, and with the comics being in continuity to the show, they have every liberty to finish the series for a whole lot less cha-ching. It won't surprise me if that's the route they end up taking.
Luketroop said,  - 2008-07-22 16:34:19
I saw a seibertron.com forum that said season three of animated will be in September. I don't know if it is true or if it is false, but i hope it's true.
lord megatron said,  - 2008-07-22 16:37:44
Yeah, guess you're right Sabr, just one problem though, someone, (not me this time), locked them so now I don't know the password and my parents, OF COURSE, don't know it either. I've thought about calling Dish for a while about password redemption but just been busy here lately.
And TPR, I hope that part of you is wrong because if that happens I will be so peeved.

I didn't enjoy watching Energon when I could watch it for free on TV. Why would I pay for the priviledge of not enjoying watching it on DVD?
Sabrblade said,  - 2008-07-22 18:06:51
I know Season 3 of TF:A was confirmed. I don't remember when and where, but I'm certain of hear its confirmation.

All I know about it is that there are big plans for Soundwave, and that Oil Slick may make an appearance.
Bumblebee said,  - 2008-07-22 19:03:06
From what I've heard, Oilslick will not make an appearance in the t.v. series, but will in the comics.
Sabrblade said,  - 2008-07-22 19:51:41
Yes, they said he will be in the comics, but they also said that they might work him into Season 3.
Dogzilla said,  - 2008-07-22 19:54:55
Hey I thought everyone would like to know that the official movie site has updated with the Revenge of the Fallen title. But that's all so far.
Lawson said,  - 2008-07-22 20:31:40
I see a lot of fan's out there asking about how much is the cybertron set & is it the full run.
I saw it for sell at Bastbuy for $40
I saw it at Wal-Mart for $38. And yes everyone it is the full 52 ep run of the show. Each Dic has cool cover art.
I say buy it. It was a cool show.
Here's hoping for a full run of Energon!
Black Starscream said,  - 2008-07-22 21:06:39
Oh yea i just realized! Is the cybertron set going to have ep 1 start at the crappy mix of GC eps 1 and 2 and have the last episode be GC ep 2 or is it gonna be in the proper order with the first two episodes perfectly dubbed?
TriPredRavage said,  - 2008-07-22 21:20:38
I've looked around, Sabr, I can't find anything at all about a confirmed third season. As far as I can tell everyone is in the same boat of "is there gonna be one". I'm just preparing myself for the worst.

And I'm fairly certain, Black Starscream, that the series is going to be boxed as it was airred, with the mixed epiosdes 1 & 2.
Autobutt said,  - 2008-07-22 22:08:02
When i was bored in my hotel room while i was on vacation, i was watching cartoon network and it said that "new TFA shows were coming." For me, that means that there is a season 3, or it could just be that Cancun was still behind on airing the shows...
TriPredRavage said,  - 2008-07-22 22:31:37
Even if that's the case, Autobutt, they don't have the third season animated as of yet, so it was probably just an old teaser being circulated as they have airred all of the two seasons as well. If there is going to be a season 3, we won't be seeing it AT LEAST until next year, what with the recording process and the animating process.
Sabrblade said,  - 2008-07-22 22:58:19
Well TPR, since I couldn't remember where and when it was confirmed, I asked around and I was told that it was confirmed at the previous BotCon. Then I asked for a link to a site confirming that confirmation, but no response to that yet. I'll let you know once I find out more info.

Oh, that bites about "Hidden", which is also interesting because that was the first episode to air on CN (even though it's really episode 3 [Galaxy Force episode 4]). But, if it's like that for every set, I hope it's just that episode. But, now that I think about it, if it is just that one, I wouldn't want it to be any other episode because, like you said, that's the episode that was available with the waves 2 and 3 Deluxes. I have it on DVD (it came with Sideways). So, if it is just that one, its no biggie for those who own the separate disc (but for those who don't, sorry).
TriPredRavage said,  - 2008-07-22 23:17:33
The bros. posted about the guys talking about season 3, and said that what they are doing is preparing for the possibility that they well be greenlit for it, not that they are. Which makes sense, they need to be ready to go when they can, but that's still not confirmation. If you've got something more concrete than that, I'd love to see it when you get it again.

That's what I'm hoping. I've stopped watching for the night, but I'm going to keep my eye on it for future episodes. But seriously, here's hoping that it's just hidden, and that maybe it's only on mine. Sucks for me, but I can't stand when stupid little mistakes like this make it out.
Someone said,  - 2008-07-23 14:35:30
I hope they release it on PAL format so that I can bore my parenticons to deactivation with all that stock footage and the stoopid music that goes with it! But then my TV/DVD Combo can play NSTC disks as well, so I could bore MYSELF to deactivation!?!
Black Starscream said,  - 2008-07-23 17:04:40
Hey TPR, do the dvd's have anything other than eps?
TriPredRavage said,  - 2008-07-23 17:11:38
Nope. Just episodes And the disc art are the profile pictures from the action figures' packaging.
Black Starscream said,  - 2008-07-23 17:30:36
They have scramble city on the 20th aniv. movie dvd, they dubbed Skorponok's scars for the energon dvds, but they didn't dub Galaxy firce ep 1. That's kind of sad.
TriPredRavage said,  - 2008-07-23 17:32:34
Well, technically, they did. And they mixed it with episode 2. Our episode 1 is episodes 1 & 2 put together, and then the epiosde "Inferno" is the peices that were cut out.
Sabrblade said,  - 2008-07-23 17:38:29
Wait a minute. Black Starscream, you said they dubbed "Scorponok's Scars" for the Energon DVDs. Do you mean the one-disc DVDs containing a few indivdual episodes that were sold several years ago? Cuz there hasn't been an official boxed set release of Energon (in the U.S., at least).

Or... No... What? "Scorponok's Scars" wasn't dubbed into English.
Black Starscream said,  - 2008-07-23 18:35:23
Oh sorry about that. I checked TFwikia and it says there that the dub was only featured on the Cartoon network website.
Sabrblade said,  - 2008-07-23 20:29:27
No, it was never dubbed into English, period. the TF wiki says that Cartoon Network acknowledged it as missing by numbering the episodes as "...30, 31, 32, 34, 35, 36,...". They knew they were skipping one, so they let us know of it.

Someone said,  - 2008-07-28 15:45:45
This is kinda weird cos most knock-offs I've been seeing are Unicron Trilogy characters...
Oh well.
