1988 Snarler

Thought we'd take a break from the Decepticon Pretenders?  No way dudes!  Eat your heart out Beast Wars fans!  A full 8 years before we first watched Optimus Primal and the Axalon crash into prehistoric Earth, Generation 1 Transformers series unveiled the "Pretender Beasts."  Our newest character page SNARLER is now available in the 1988 Transformers Section

An interesting concept, these toys featured robots with animal based alternate modes and a complimentary animal organic shell; complete with external laser cannons (to aid in their disguise!)  They made very few appearances in (US) G1 comics.  However, we did get to see a few glimpses of them in the unfortunately-never-completed, War Within: Age of Wrath, series by Dreamwave comics.

... More to come! ...

This guy reminds me of the Monster Pretenders and the Dinoforce from Transformers Victory. If I could ever find Monstructor on eBay for a reasonable price, I'd snatch him up pretty quick.

...Beast Wars was still better... >.>

Sad there's no acknowledgement of his appearances in the U.K. Marvel comics where he had a far bigger role.

Carnivac's page when you get to do it is going to be very disappointing since his whole popularity stems from his storylines in the U.K. comics whereas in the U.S. comics he was just a forgettable grunt making a guest appearance with no special characterisation.

Hey Bass, You're from across the pond right? You have more knowledge of Snarler's appearances in the UK comics than I do. Shoot me an e-mail with a written description of his role in that series and I would be happy to incorporate it into his "Bibliography of significant appearances" in the character page. >> perceptor@unicron.com

I'm actually kinda glad these guys didn't make it into Masterforce, as I don't think they could've been pulled off in the right way.

If Snarler and Razorbeast were in a fight my money is on Razorbeast.
