ROTF Depthcharge, Ransack, Bumblebee, and Sideswipe

Posted by:

The ROTF news just keeps coming in and piling up. The Arker.com has new crystal clear images of Depthcharge and Ransack, but these are so much more detailed than any previous ones in that they gives us a great look and the molds and designs of these two figures from several different angles.

Also, the TF08 forums have new images of two more ROTF characters' deluxe toys. First, they have nine images of different shots of the Deluxe Bumblebee figure, but sadly none of these are of his Robot Mode in full, but they do show very close shots of his body. And what's more appealing is that they have the first full body image of the Deluxe Sideswipe figure, which appears to be his back-of-box image, showing off his Robot and Vehicle Modes quite nicely.

I'm interested in Depthcharge and Ransack. Sideswipe looks really great. I'm honestly not that enthusiastic about Bumblebee, I've already got Bumblebee's from the first movie line and I'm not wild about the new headsculpt.

sideswipe looks like jazz but a repaired version

Getting sick of all these American concept car forms, bring on the euro beasts so the autobots can actually turn corners while going fast lol

Sideswipe looks like a poor mans Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren : (

Me, I'm a huge fan of Lamborgini, especially their newest model, the Reventón. Look it up. It's one of the sleekist, sexiest cars ever made. Granted I don't think we'll ever see an Autobot or a Decepticon in a Michael Bay film transform into one, simply because the price tag would eat up half the budget.

But with that in mind, why can't we have Punch/Counterpunch come back and transform into an Aston Martin?

I'm not particularly thrilled with the Chevy Beat or Trax. But I think the Centennial 'vette looks top notch. The Volt is not too shabby either. About time GM gets on the hybrid bandwagon. Bring those cars to market, maybe they'll be able to pull themselves out of Bankruptcy court.

Say, wasn't there some speculation that Wheeljack would be in ROTF as a Saab or some such? Here's hopin'.

The Reventon is one crazy car, but the one id love to see is a Gumpert Apollo, stupid name though!

And Perceptor Saab are owned by GM, they share chassis/ engine and switchgear across most models.

Sideswipe still looks cool, and Depthcharge is a must even with those awkward looking legs!

Looking at them again, I will probably get both Depthcharge and Ransack. Depthcharge looks really awkward in those pics though. I'm sure they're supposed to be "dynamic" and "heroic" poses, but with his legs shaped the way they are, he looks like he's trying to keep his balance.

Ransack, again, looks goofy, but in a fun kind of way. Kind of brings to mind the "Hearts of Steel" story line, where the seekers turned into bi-planes. I'm guessing he's supposed to have something of a joker/trickster personality, just going off off the way he looks, but I could be wrong on that.

The Gumpert Apollo is a nice looking car, kind of reminds me of Maserati racers, specifically a beefier looking Maserati MC12.

Sideswipe needs to be red
Autobutt said,  - 2009-01-10 19:26:56
You cant really complain about the movie characters having G1 accurate colors considering most of them didnt in the first movie.
Sabrblade said,  - 2009-01-10 19:53:49
Beisdes, this isn't a new version of G1 Sideswipe. It'a a new character using an old name.

In fact, I don't get why it's only the movie characters with G1 names that didn't look like their G1 versions that every complains about not looking G1-accurate. Every series after G1 has recycled various G1 names, yet nobody ever complained about them. But when the live-action movie came out, everybody complained about the characters using G1 names not looking like their G1 versions.

"Why is movie Ironhide not red?" What about RiD and Energon Ironhide? They weren't red either, yet no one cared. "Why is Optimus blue with flames, and not a flat front truck?" What about RiD Optimus (who was a fire truck), Armada Optimus (who was also not a flat front truck), and Cybertron Optimus (another fire truck). "Why is Megatron not a gun?" Forgotten about every post-G1 Megatron in existence, it seems. "Why is Starscream not gray/white and red?" Hey, neither was Machine Wars Screamer. "Why is Frenzy not (G1) Soundwave?" Why does he have to be? And Cybertron Soundwave was a stealth bomber, so his altmode doesn't matter. "Why is Bonecrusher ugly and not green?" Because he's not a constructicon and doesn't have to be. And neither was Beast Wars Bonecrusher. "Michael Bay you've ruined my childhood!" Oh stop being such a drama king.

And most of these complaints came from regular fans, not Geewunners like they sound like.

I guess Sabrblade, its just that its because the movie is such huge part of the TF franchise. Fans want to see the transformers they know and love in a modern tf movie as they originally were.

Though all things aside the figure looks really nice!

I agree with Saberblade. The babies all cry too much that the characters don't look G1. They're not supposed to. I think Sideswipe looks great. Very sleek looking car. I'm sure the customizers out there will all be posting Red Sideswipe toys once he's released. In fact I may do one myself. Some seem to forget that the movie universe is a reinvention of The Transformers. I loved the first film and eagerly await the second.

Well spoken Sabrblade. I think the big hullablaloo about the live action movie characters/vehicles not looking like their G1 counter parts came about because nothing like this had ever happened with Transformers...ever. Every few years or so we get a new cartoon, and fans of G1 have just come to accept that different cartoons=different characters. But the live action movie opened a whole new door, and people's childhoods were given a new life on the big screen. Peter Cullen was back to voicing Optimus Prime for crying out loud. Children of the 80's wanted their childhood honored, and wanted that childhood displayed on the big screen. I grew up with the G1 cartoon. I watched it when they were brand new episodes, but when I saw the movie, I embraced it. I loved that the robots looked less blocky and actually looked like they should be able to move. Why don't they look like their 80's counter parts? Because it's not 1985 folks. Your childhood is over, embrace the new era. Stop worrying over "Does this fit with what I remember?" and look at it as a new start, a new era. Enjoy the story, root for the heroes, and have fun with the action. The transformers are about change and evolution. Shouldn't the fan base be the same?

>>i don wanna talk bout wht u guys talk bout cuz i have no idea wht ur talkin bout..get it ;)

What don't you get about what we're saying?

>>so y'd they make it =/

Three reasons:
1. Two make it more "movie-accurate"
2. To sell toys and make money
3. To make it available to those who couldn't get Movie BB the first time around (which seems unbelievable given that BB had about the most movie toys than the others did).
Apsalas said,  - 2009-01-11 15:16:16
Personally the film sucked lol though i liked many of the bot designs the whole thing stank of Bay and Hollywood macho bollux + all the human cast sucked in the most patriotic American crap since ID4

Even though I've never been the biggest fan the G1 movie will always be superior.

Then again my brother will end up with most of these toys anyway lol
