Revenge of the Fallen writers recently confirmed the inclusion of a "Pretender" in the soon to be released summer blockbuster.  Today, we take a look back at the original robots-in-disguise > as humans!  The 1988 Autobot Pretenders:  WAVERIDER, CLOUDBURST, SKY HIGHGROUNDBREAKER and SPLASHDOWN have all new character pages, uploaded and ready for your viewing pleasure.

SUIT ON! PRETENDER!

Diver and Phoenix (Waverider and Cloudburst) are the only ones of these guys to make it into Masterforce (Lander/Landmine and Metalhawk were too, but are not listed here).

Diver was a very prominent character, as it was he who trained the Headmaster Juniors, and first dicovered that Ginrai was a Godmaster.

As for Phoenix, while we saw him the least, he was cool in that he had a hairstyle like that of Wolverine from the X-Men. Sadly, his toy lacks this hair.

I think my first Pretender will be Groundbreaker.

Voice ideas of this edition:

-Chuck McCann as Cloudburst

-Rob Paulsen as Sky High

-Randy Quaid as Groundbreaker

-Bryan Cranston as Landmine I

-Bill Pullman as Waverider

-And Lee Majors as Splashdown

Pretender Sky High and Micromaster Sky High are completely different beings who just so happen to share the same name. This is clearly stated in Micromaster Sky High's bio in the Dreamwave profile books. So to say Micromaster Sky High is another appearance for the Pretender would be incorrect.

Just because they share the same name doesn't mean they're the same person.

I think it refers to the appearances of the name "Sky High" rather than the character.
