An article at AdvertisingAge talks extensively about the new Hasbro/Discovery joint venture channel, The Hub, going into detail about the many features that this channel will have to offer.

Among the various things mentioned, one of them regards the new Transformers series, Transformers: Prime, that will have long-time fans squeeing with joy and excitement:

"Some of the Hub's most high-profile shows will be updated versions of well-known Hasbro programs from the 1980s, including 'G.I. Joe,' 'Transformers' and 'My Little Pony.' The latter is being re-imagined for young girls by 'Powerpuff Girls' creator Lauren Faust, while the new 'Transformers Prime' will feature the voice of Peter Cullen, the original voice of Optimus Prime from the animated series as well as the Michael Bay-directed feature films. Additionally, 'Transformers' feature screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci will act as showrunners. 'G.I. Joe Renegades' will spotlight the Joes on the lam from government forces and the agents of Cobra, a storyline that echoes the recent feature film released by Paramount last summer."

That's right, Peter Cullen himself is coming back to Transformers cartoons in the new Transformers: Prime series. While the article doesn't actually say that he will be voicing Optimus Prime in this series, we can still assume such.

I hope in Transformers Prime, Megatron turns into a gun. That mode has always been special to me.

Megatron will never turn in to a realistic gun ever again. Unless, you don't want him to have any toys of him anymore.

Also, about Welker being Megs, if he ain't Megs in WFC, then he likely ain't Megs in Prime either.

That is so cool Megs and Prime reunite after 25 years, can't wait.Cullen and Welker. WOW.

Hasbro can still make a Megs gun, but will have the blaze orange tip on it. Hello lets not forget the classic series Megs.

Agreed Sabrblade; Welker may be bowing out of the Megatron character. At least for a time. I think the last time he played Megatron was in the movie tie-in games and animated comic that came with one of the dvd's. Its a shame too, I'd like to see Cullen and Welker in those character roles again, but only if they made it tie in to the G1 cartoon. Peter Cullen brings the wise, pretty near ancient gravitas to Prime now, but I really felt that David Kaye nailed the part as a younger, inexperienced Optimus in animated and wouldn't mind seeing him return to the role.

In the unlikely event that Cullen isn't voicing Optimus in the new cartoon, I hope they have him voicing the mentor of the character, an ancient and wise transformer of some kind. Maybe Alpha Trion?
Although I am very optimistic, it may be a while before we see this show. And what role Peter Cullen has remains to be seen. But, hell yeah a more serious transfomers cartoon based on G1 with Peter Cullen voicing Optimus Prime. I think an energon mcv fvfm,fm,v,m m,m,cube just exploded in my underwear.2

Well, they said Cullen wasn't confirmed as Prime, so I'm free to dream my impossible dreams until it is confirmed...

...say, wouldn't Cullen voicing a Megatron by a heck of a lark? Granted he'd probably sound a lot like Venger, but who says that's a bad thing?

Oh thank goodness someone else remembers the D&D cartoon. We just get Welker to do Prime's voice! I imagine he'd sound like Fred, and hopefully not Uni.
