Forum Upgrade, and more to come...

Posted by:

Today, we are unveiling our all new upgraded forum featuring a cleaner, more organized, and full screen (variable width) forum theme. Along with this forum upgrade, we wanted to give you all a heads up that soon we will be making an upgrade to our news system which will be bringing some significant changes to both how news posts are handled as well as how comments are made. This next Unicron.com upgrade will primarily entail more fully integrating the Unicron.com Forum into the main website’s structure. Specifically, the news items which display on the main page will soon be handled directly in the forum. In other words, we will be retiring our old news engine in order to more fully integrate our forum community into the site as a whole.

This means that our old comment system currently seen under most news posts (which we have been slowly phasing out) will no longer exist, as clicking into each news item will bring you directly into the forum thread dedicated to that news item. So, if you already have a user account with our forum, then you’re set to go. If not, we truly hope you will join the forum and continue to contribute to our community in providing your news post-related thoughts, discussions, comments, questions, and wise cracks!

Signing up for an account is a simple, quick, and totally free process that requires nothing more than a minute of your time. There is no charge; no catches; no strings attached of any kind; we don't collect your personal information, we don't share it, we don't even need it! We whole-heartedly welcome you into the forum with no strings attached in hopes that we can grow further into a, bigger, better, and stronger community than ever.

We at Unicron.com have been very appreciative of the members of our community here. While we continue to work hard to make our site the best it can be for your use, it is your involvement, contribution, emails, comments, and more that has inspired us to do so. Take care, and we'll see you in the forum!

Looks good, however the black on black is hard to read
Sabrblade said,  - 2011-01-21 20:46:38
What do you mean "black on black"?
Obsidian said,  - 2011-01-21 20:49:14
black on black? Can you be more specific? I want to make sure we're looking at the same thing I am. I hope you don't mean black text on a black background... What browser/version are you using?
Masterforce said,  - 2011-01-21 21:50:07
This is all greek to me

What we're trying to say is that we've upgraded our forum to its newest look. And that we'll soon be integrating it into the main page of the website. Which means that all news comments will have to done in the forum and will no longer be done in these comment boxes below each news post.

i should ahve been more spacific
The text appears black aginst the backgorund which is black
Sabrblade said,  - 2011-01-21 22:07:58
That's weird. It should be light text on a black background.

I'm looking at the text in Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 9, and FireFox; and it looks perfectly normal.

I even logged out it looks normal.

What browser and version are you using?
Obsidian said,  - 2011-01-21 22:12:51
In short: The forum has a totally new look, and we're going to upgrade the news posting system soon. All the comments (like the ones right here) will happen in the forum because these pages won't exist any longer. When you click on an news item, it'll take you directly to the forum to read the rest of the post and see comments.

Agent X, thanks for letting us know. Yeah, suffice to say, that's not how it's suppose to look. Can you tell me what browser you're using (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opra...) And if you can, what version (e.g. 1.05, v5.1, 8.001.45, ...) That would be very helpful. Also, are you running Windows, Mac, Wii, Phone..? Also, where exactly are you finding the black text and black background? Is it in the central post area, menu, post compose window? All of this info would be very helpful. Thanks!

New forums look great. There's a lot more to it than a sweet new esthetic. Can't wait to put all the new functionality to use!!!!

Agent X, one more thing to try, if you could: hold down shift, and click your browser reload/refresh button. That will usually force a complete refresh. (It's possible your browser is caching something old.)

speaking as a visually challanged indavidual using a screan reader, the new set up works a lot better with mor coheasian and fluidity with assistive technology. i've tested it out with everything i can get hold of and all screanreaders work fine with the sistom, a slight problem with the old set up was that the screanreader would dislike something on the forums and shut itsself down, no problem with it now and the poasts flow easyer

well done you guys

Brian said,  - 2011-01-22 09:54:44
lioconvoy, I temporarily increased the number of login attempts before it will make you read the captcha. (I think.) Could you try again?

Im using IE9 on both my laptop (running 7) and Dask top (runing XP) and my PS3, all appear the black on black.

I just checked with Chrome and it looks fine
Brian said,  - 2011-01-22 14:19:05
Agent X, I see the same problem in my IE (8). I'll look into this & try to get it fixed.
Brian said,  - 2011-01-22 14:54:01
IE black-on-black problem all fixed. IE wasn't interpreting the style info quite right, for some reason.
Sabrblade said,  - 2011-01-22 22:50:17
Glad that's fixed.

Now, for those of you who have not joined our forum yet, now is the time to do so. For very soon, we will be retiring this current method of commenting on news items in favor of doing so in the forum.

i am having problems with signing in again and it has said that i have an incorect password and i have exeeded the login attempts. the thing is that i have not been typing a different password in at any point and no matter how menny times i type the same password in it still says i am rong. what can i do about this?
Sabrblade said,  - 2011-01-26 15:09:16
I have an idea that might fix your forums password problem.

When you go to log in, try clicking the "I forgot my password" link and go from there. Follow the steps from then onward to see if your supposedly "correct" password will be emailed to you. Once you have received said email, use the password sent to you try and log in again.
Brian said,  - 2011-01-26 17:40:27
Lioconvoy, I increased the login attempt limit again. Maybe try again?
