Hey everybody.  So, with Transformers: Cybertron coming to a close, and no new series until the end of 2007, I got to thinkin' "I could really go for some older Transformers."  So I clicked on over to Youtube and put in a search for Transformers RiD and that's what I got!  As you can see, Youtube has a few of the episodes uploaded in segments.  For example: Episode 1: Battle Protocol pt. 1, pt. 2, and pt. 3

Quick history lesson.  You ever wonder why RiD was hasn't been released to DVD?  Well according to RiDForever, because RiD was produced by Saban, who was a major provider to Fox Kids, when Saban went out of business, Disney picked up all the rights to their shows.  So, RiD is entirely in the hands of Disney, who very rarely releases their series to seasonal boxsets.  Sorry I can't find the link to that bit of info, but that's pretty much the jist of it.

Happy viewing everybody.

I've been wanting to throw this out there for a while now and I figure this'd be the place to do it. Everybody considers RiD to be a series set in its own universe, but I've always seen it differently. Back when the series first came out I actually thought of it as the original G1 series after the Beast Wars. It always seemed to me that RiD was how the Beast Wars changed the Great War. And then you look at the characters and a good lot of them share names, or similar names, to that of G1 characters, and we've all seen instances where the Transformers change their names to suit their alt modes or new strengths. Just a thought.

I found the part of RiDForever that mentions the whole DVD thing:
"In it's production deal with Hasbro, Saban/Fox Kids retained the right to put out Robots In Disguise via their own DVD/Sountrack production and distribution labels, as was commonly done with Digimon and Power Rangers at the time.

Saban was broken up from the Fox Coroporation, and sold to Disney along with Fox Family, now ABC Family. Disney currently owns Digimon, Power Rangers, and the rest of the Saban library, including Robots In Disguise.

In order for Robots in Disguise to be released on DVD in the US, it would need to be approved by both Disney and Hasbro. Hasbro has dvd and video agreements with other companies to produce new releases based on current series, and retro releases based on the classic titles G1 and Beast Wars. A Robots In Disguise release to DVD could negatively affect market sales for a current paying DVD licensee, therefore, will most likely not be approved anytime soon. Disney would need to put it out under their own DVD network, and pay a percentage to Hasbro, or, sell the rights to another company in full or lease for a set fee, all of which is also unlikely."
