Bad news for MP-05

It has been reported on tfw2005, that JRS Toy World is canceling all MP-05 preorders.  It seems they were going to try to import non-modified versions of the toy for sale.  And, that they have since found out that it will be nearly impossible to do this.  This news is for JRS only.

If you've preordered MP-05 from another outlet realize that it WILL have an orange tip as required by US safty regulations.  There appear to be only two ways it would not have the orange tip.  ONE:  Your seller modified the toy after they recived it.  TWO:  Your seller managed to sneek it past US customs some how without them noticing it.  Either way it is technicly illegal to sell or distribute a toy gun that looks real at a glance.  This is due in large to children getting shot because someone thought the gun in their hand was real and not a toy.  For a more indepth description and the actual law you can visit bigbadtoystore's MP-05 page here

I have some great news and when i say great i mean great!!! I have read that some people will be deattaching (unscrewing) just the barrel of the gun and selling it to the US completely legaly! its approxamite retail on ebay should be somewhere in between 5-15 dollars for a buy it now price!!!!! Won't you all feel better inside knowing that youll be able to get your mp-05 technically unmoded?

Wow. Thats awsome. I'd pay extra for a un-modded barrel. Anyhow, does anyone else think the U.S is too strict? And, can anyone explain Kremzeek?

"Too strict" is a matter of interpretation. But, as I said in the news posting. This law was made because kids would be playing with toy guns that at a glance looked real.

Now, imagine you are walking down the street in a bad neighborhood. Some kid is smart enough that he figures he can't be charged with armed robbery with a toy gun. He comes around a corner and draws his "gun" on you. You have a licence to carry and are in posesion of a legal firearm. If you have only a second to look and decide, most people will draw and fire in self defence.

I don't know that I agree with the law. But, it is ultmatly the job of politicians to make the nation a better and safer place. If parents won't teach kids how to be decent citizens, then laws will be made to keep the rest of us safe.

I ordered from xybertoys and they are selling it as is. Is there any way they can possibly do this? Also they say they will have it in stock on March 16.

Were do live? within the USA? If so, probably not unless you manage to somehow slip by US Standards. You would be able to get a G1 Megatron through the mail unmodified. This has to do with the weight I belive, and with the MP-05 weighing at 4.22 lbs it migt look to be a real gun. Your best bet would be to hurry up and cancel your order and order from one of the safer online stores, like Bigbadtoystore.com, or some other website that offers to put an orange removeable plug on the end of the barrel.

Any suggestions on a site that offers a removable plug?

well thats kind of hard to come by. however, I believe I heard that retailers on ebay will be selling JUST the barrel of the gun with the pivoting screw attachment so that you can take of your old one and slap on the new one. completely LEGAL!!! Its price should vary from what Ive heard somewhere in between 5-15 dollars plus 2 dollar shipping if you live in the US. just order on from a site that will have an orange plug.

I just got an E-mail from Xybertoys.com and they say that MP-05 is in their posession and ready to ship... and it is packaged in robot mode. They are selling it unmodified. I heard rumors that since Takara/Tomy intend to sell a modified version in the US that they are alerting customs to stop all unauthorized, unmodified, shippments from out of the country. Did anyone else hear this? What do you guys think? Should I order one of each? (unmoded and plugged?)
Xybertoys are selling for $138.51 US, Shipping included.
