Figure King issue #144 scans - prototypes of TFA Hot Rod & Rhinox!

Toy World HK has posted an extensive amount of scanned images of latest issue (number 144) of Figure King magazine. The page scans give us a good look at many of TakaraTomy's upcoming and current Transformers products; ranging from ROTF, Animated, Disney Label, and more. But what is most noticeable is an image that reveals two prototypes for two unproduced Animated figures: "Hot Rod" and "Rhinox".

Since they've enabled us to view practically the entire magazine, I've taken the liberty of narrowing it down to just the pages that feature the Transformers products and info.

Cover - shows off the TakaraTomy versions of TFA Optimus, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Prowl, and Ironhide.
Page 11 - TFA Optimus and BB transform and welcome you to 2010
Pages 12  & 13 - Info on the Japanese Transformers Animated (notice the new "movie style" logo for their version of the series)
Pages 14 & 15 - toy images of "Autobot Team Leader" Optimus Prime
Page 16 - toy images of "Autobot Speedster" Bumblebee
Page 17 - toy images of "Autobot Guardman" Ironhide
Page 18 - toy images of "Autobot Spy" Prowl
Page 19 - toy images of "Autobot Medic" Ratchet
Page 20 - a 2010 Special Interview with... "someone" (please forgive my ignorance and inability to read Japanese)
Page 21 - more of said interview, plus a look at the prototypes of TFA "Hot Rod" and "Rhinox"! (Could these be produced by TakaraTomy later on?)
Page 22 - ROTF N.E.S.T. Global Alliance ad, featuring Deluxe Ratchet vs. ROTF Lockdown
Page 23 - ROTF N.E.S.T. Global Alliance figures: Deluxe Ratchet, Brawn, Recon Ironhide, Alliance Bumblebee, Scattorshot...
Page 24 - ...Midewipe, Lockdown, Skystalker...
Page 25 - ...Dirge, Brakedown, and Bludgeon. Also, two exclusives: "Crystal Burning" The Fallen (same as Target's "Burning" The Fallen, but with clear orange plastic) and green EZ Devastator.
Pages 26 & 27 - Disney Label Donald Duck
Pages 28 & 29 - Another 2010 Special Interview (perhaps the same one continued?)
Page 30 - Super-deformed TFA keychains, and a look back at the old Transformers 2010 cartoon (A.K.A. the third season of the G1 cartoon) from back in 1986.

On Seibertron.com , it says the name for these two prototypes are HOTSHOT and RHINOX.

Plus it can't be hod rod because he wasn't in Transformers Animaded , i also herd on tformers.com that they were: ransack, crumplezone , bulkhead ,and arcee.

Actually Hot Rod was in the begining of Transformers Animated Season 3 (last seen covered in Oil Slick's cosmic rust), however all of his most recent forms have just been called Rodimus.

No, Seibertron says "Hot Rod". I just repeated what they said.

@Deceptitron: It was "Rodimus Prime" who appeared in the first episode of TFA season 3 (not "Hot Rod"). His name was only spoken as "Rodimus", but his official TFCC profile gives him the name and rank of "Rodimus Prime". (hie toy, however, will called "Rodimus Minor" because of there being too many "Primes" in the TFA toyline. Yet the character is still named "Rodimus Prime")

This "Hot Rod" prototype (as well as the "Rhinox" one) is something of an enigma to me, as it wouldn't make sense to make a different "Hot Rod" when A) there's already a "Rodimus Prime" character and toy in the same line and B) Hasbro doesn't hold the rights to use that name. As for "Rhinox", since he doesn't seem to resemble the Beast Wars character in any way (besides being big and strong-looking), I don't see the point of it either.

Your right Saber it was Rodimus Prime in the show. My mistake. But weather it's Hot Rod, Rodimus, Rodimus Prime, or Rodimus Minor, He's still a cool character, and figure to have.

I still stand by my theory that those guys can't be TFA prototypes. They don't look like they fit in with the style, too mechanical.

Well, if you look veeeeeerry closely on the page with the prototypes, look above them and you'll see preliminary sketches of what would later evolve into TFA characters that we know of today. Underneath one of these sketches are the words "TRANSFORMERS HERO", and the name "Transformers Heroes" was the working title for Transformers Animated before it really got off the ground.

My guess is that the reason these two prototypes don't look "kiddified" like most Animated figures is that perhaps the "kiddie" appearance of Animated wasn't decided on early on and only came after these two prototypes were made (though, this is just my theory).

Here's a spliced image showing the prototypes with the top sketch.
