Deserves it. Awful film.

Although New Moon should've really won this award, worst screenplay, and worst on screen couple, ROTF won because it's high-profile, and every fansite ever will be commenting on this, thus increasing people's knowledge of the Razzies.

What was so awful about it DocWho? Perhaps you only watched it once or twice and you didnt understand it? Honestly it took me at least 7 or 8 times to get what was going on, maybe that could be were your negativity is coming from? Please dont take this the wrong way im just curious. For exaple ive watched DeathRace and didnt like it at first then watched a couple more times and ended up loving it.

Even if one thinks RotF wasn't all that bad, to me the story just doesn't hold up to what we know is possible in terms of the rich characterization and drama we've enjoyed from these characters over the years.

I totaly agree with you TCM and most people dont know the character like we do. It should have had that characterization and drama in the first movie to have an idea for new fans. Not oh im optimus prime and this my repair dude and this gun dude and my lutenant. It should have been like G1 where they told there own storys of each individual robot.

For me, it was the length. Now, that wouldn't be so bad, but it had little to no plot to carry it, what plot was there was mind-numbingly stupid, and Megan Fox was UNBEARABLE as an actress. That's what keeps it from being an enjoyable bad film for me. And don't get me wrong, there are some good parts, like Epps, who has to be my favorite human character of all time. I honestly think I wouldn't have minded it as much if it wasn't so long. XD

It's ironic, because I get labeled as a movieverse hater a lot simply because I didn't like ROTF, but loved the first movie, and the designs of the robots and all that. Thanks for not going that route, and I'm really not taking it your inquiry the wrong way at all, don't worry. ^_^

I think Megan fox is a terrible actress the part where Sam is leaving for college was very embarassing to watch. I have to fast forward every time.

Hey guys, I think you over judge ROTF as a bad film. Just because Michael Bay was the first director to attempt a "Live Action" Transformers movie before any other director could doesn't mean he did a bad job on making the robots more realistic. All I can say is that the third film will devote more origin story on each of the robots.

It's one of those that's so bad, it's good (like the terrible Super Mario Bros. movie)! XD

Oh, I don't blame Bay one bit, and I love the robot designs myself. I mainly blame the writers, Bay's directing isn't really half bad.

Not only did it win 3 razzies, but it didn't win any academy awards!!!! At least it was nominated for sound mixing, but it didn't win. What really surprised me was it wasn't even nominated for best visual affects! Avatar was practically all animated, Star Trek had nothing new, and District 9 was a low budget piece of crap! What especially ticked me off was how Avatar won the award. I don't get how people can like animated blue people so much. Transformers had the best visual affects of all time and should have won. Revenge of the Fallen also had a great story-line which explained the history of the Fallen to new fans (and maybe some old ones).

@Bumblebee: Unfortunately the academy awards love familar faces and they immediately associate certain directors with certain awards. James Cameron is a director one can immediately associate with awards, where as Michael Bay is associated with explosions, car chases, and scantily clad women. These three things are not what the academy wants to see. They are a group of pseudo-intellectuals who love rather borning and predictable movies. Outside of the visual effects, there wasn't a single thing that was original about Avatar, but James Cameron directed it and it had an esasily identifable moral. ROTF was an action movie that, and I gotta side with DocWho on this, had a plot that seemed to be more of an after thought then anything actually driving the movie. I do think ROTF could have been a heck of a lot better, but I also don't weep because it didn't win any academy awards. I love thousands of movies that the academy has never even heard of. Who cares what the academy thinks, its about what you like to watch.

Having completed my film major and graduating in May, I can say, film-wise, it's not surprising. There was a lot wrong with RotF from a film standard. I think that a lot of the things that people complained about afterwards are wrong, but as far as a film goes, it doesn't hold up.

That said, the forest scene is still amazing. Especially the Blu-Ray Big Screen version.

I agree the forrest battle was my favorite scene in the entire movie, I wathced the oscars and Transformers2 was nominated for 1 which i thought was good but i hope they step it up in transformers 3

I am so embarrassed that ROTF was a transformers movie. There are so many things wrong with the film it's hard to begin. I enjoyed the first film, but ROTF was soooo bad. Devastator was lame, the sexual humor was overdone and tasteless, the movie was waaay too long, the idea of the matrix was confusing, "hatchlings," the back story involving Egypt and prehistoric transformers was unoriginal, having soundwave (one of the best characters in the universe) for only 3 seconds and the incorrect voice, Megan Fox's acting, the racist twins, the fact that the ex sector 7 guy took off his pants for no reason, all the unnamed, unexplained decepticons, the female pretender was just dumb, I can go on. Overall, the human plot was lame and the robots (who we actually care about here) are only an excuse for action scenes. I have hopes that WFC can actually produce, unlike this film which was god awful.

Things I liked about RotF:
1-Optimus as hero
2-Optimus combining with Jetfire
3-Matrix having prophetic ability like when Rodimus has his visions in G1 and Optimus himself alluding to the destiny of the Transformers at his G1 deathbed.
4-The Fallen character as sort of a mentor to Megatron and only disappointment being the toy didn't have the staff or matrix as extra part. Also the fallen character as a whole was good.
5-Story of Optimus dying and coming back to life sort of like other incarnations of Prime.
6-Devastator being multicolored like I wanted him to be from first hearing he would be in it.
7-Megatron also coming back to life and knocking the submarine out of the water as well
8-The Special effects in certain parts were great like when Megatron goes to the Nemesis right after my number 7 and the forest fight.
9-Optimus Prime using his Last Stand power from Attacktix game in the forest scene being similar to G1 movie where he takes out all the Decepticons to "turn the tide" as kup says.
10-Some corny fanboy lines like Alice saying pretend 2 times in one line right after Sam is drawing cybertronian with cake frosting letting you know she is a pretender before they show it.
11-The main story about Sam accepting that he isn't ordinary and doesn't have to be, realizing it is great to live with real transformers after Optimus dies for him and he didn't want to help him at the graveyard scene and basaically steps up to the plate after his guilty feelings for Optimus dying wasn't so bad and while Epps is my favorite human character in the movies Sam pulls in a close number 2.
12-Introduction of space bridges hoping to see more of that in tf3

14-Optimus as narrator in a way sort of like the old Narrator from G1 season 1 and G1 movie.
15-ordinary nonfanboys surprising me at the theater knowing who Ravage, Devastator, even Megatron were while watching the movie and cheering and clapping for it at the end.

Nice comment cyberwuss! I agree with sidewinder that you should like whatever you like. From what I know, the academy is mostly a whole bunch of senile old farts like Roger Ebert. He hated Transformers and loved 500 days of summer. Listening to what the average shmuck said about these movies, they preferred transformers and hated that summer movie. That just goes to show that the critics are wrong. I know rotf had many haters, but it was still (from what I remember hearing at one point or another) the 2nd highest grossing film of all time.

For me this movie is simply and purely a guilty pleasure. And clearly I'm not the only one who thinks so its was critically panned, but had a ridiculous gross at the box office. I understand the movies flaws and lack of plot and bad acting and blah blah blah but it hasn't stopped me from watching the movie like 15 times. Even if I am mostly only watching the scenes with transformers in it.

I remember cringing at some of the skids and mudflap jokes, but i also remember been blown away by the forrest battle scene, it was like nothing i had seen before. Anyway point its far from a perfect movie, but i'll be right there to see TF3 day it comes out.

So, yeah. I'll agree that RotF had some really good parts, but the reason it's the worst picture of the year is because the bad parts towered over it!
Did he have to have the ice cream truck-bots wear a sticker reading "SUCK MY POPSICLE?" Did he have to have a bikini model lashing around her 50-foot metal tongue? Did he have to give Devastator giant metal testicles? The list goes on and on...

Seriously? That movie was too horrible for even the razzies. how about the fact that constructicons were fighting the same time Devastator was fighting somewhere else? or leading up to the forest scene. Megatron (a tank) and Prime (a truck) have a 10 second head start leaving the warehouse and Bumblebee (a CAMARO!) can't catch up? And only shows up AFTER the whole battle when Prime is almost dying? Or Sam telling Bumblebee to keep his family safe so he brings them dead center of the battle? There are just WAY too many things wrong with this movie. Both large and small! No offense to the people who liked it. But if you take your fanboy glasses off and just replace the TRansformers with generic robots and analyze the film it's pretty terrible.

It wan't so bad to earn a razzie but the movie still stunk because of mudflap and skidz, i want them to die!!!!!

In the history of films, the middle part of a trilogy has always been lacking. Both Star Wars middle films (Empire and Attack of the Clones) fell a little bit flat. That is because they are transition films, carrying the story into the ultimate climax. It occurs to me that ROTF is such a situation, only somewhat poorly thought out. At least with the Star Wars saga, you had a sense that this was all leading up to a particular story where as with ROTF, most of us knew there would be a third act, but it doesn't feel at this time like the writers were privy to that information and just did whatever they wanted. Granted the film was worked on during a writers' strike so it very well could be that Bay figured out all these action sequences and when the strike lifted handed the writers the outline and said "Make me a story." and they did what they could. Hopefully with part three they will finally have the balance they should be striving for.

Masterforce you are so right. I love Skidz and Mudflap. I rearranged an entire shelf just so I could get enough to display them standing next to each other. I cant wait to see what they do in TF3, I doubt a whole lot but still.

As for the razzies, forget those idiots, lets see them write a better movie in the same amout of time.

I have to disagree with your assessment about ESB or AotC. ESB has consistently been considered the best of the original three SW movies.

As for RotF, I loved it. It was a fun, escapist movie. I've seen it countless times and enjoyed every minute of it. It's flaws weren't the result of bad writing or bad directing, but rather, hurried writing brought on by the Writer's Strike and the need to make a deadline.

Well, I'm not suprised the film won several Razzies. It did what it did, had potentiel but wasted it.

Like several of us, I have my own list of gripes with RotF (like, the whole origin of the Fallen being really different from the comics, the idea of "Primes" being born into that position instead of each generation having it's own Prime, Megatron not being as great a character as say, Animated Megatron, ect...).
But... my opinions, just like the Academy awards and even the Razzies, are just that: opinions. If you enjoy watching RotF, I'm sure no one else saying it sucks can change how much you enjoy it.
And Tramp, I totally agree with the Star Wars films. Empire (again, my opinion) is certainly one of the stronger films; but to me, Attack is the weakest one.
