City Commander and Shadow Commader news

Lately, there has been much info about the recently released FansProject City Commander upgrade set for Classics Ultra Magnus.

First and foremost, Seibertron.com member First Gen has posted full images of the instruction booklet/comic that comes with the set. It tells the first part of a story called "TF-PARALLAX" with its first chapter "ORION". In this seemingly alternate universe story, Optimus Prime and an unnamed Autobot (who looks a LOT like Ironhide) are in ancient Egypt fighting off a tyrannical Decepticon dictator (named "Pharoahtron"). As the tyrant's minions fail, he steps in to fight Prime. But Optimus calls forth his trailer which turns into his armor (which is colored in the "Powered Convoy" version's color scheme). As the armor transforms, we are shown its transformation in a step-by-step format (this is the "instructions" part of the booklet), then it attaches to Prime, who then proceeds to unleash a world of pain on the  Pharoah bot.

Secondly, FansProject has put up a clip of the transformation of the City Commander armor onto Ultra Magnus on YouTube. But what makes this clip so special is that it's animated in the 3D CGI style of the Cybertron/Galaxy Force anime cartoon.

Finally, FansProject has given us a preview in the form of several new images of the upcoming Shadow Commander redeco kit for Universe Nemesis Prime/Henkei Black Convoy. They've even revealed how and where the newly added reddish-pink clear sword is stored in both modes, as well as pointing out some of the added retooled improvements made to the figure.

I'm actually considering buying the city commander set and I own the Nemesis Prime, so the Shadow Commander set is a possibility for me as well. This is such a good looking set, that I'd almost think it was official.

I really want both the City Commander and the coming "Powered Convoy" colored version of it. But I've got two problems. One, I do not have the money to buy either. Two, I do not own Ultra Magnus, Optimus Prime, or any version of that toy. So sadly, I may never get any verison of this set. :(
I'd like the city commander set but it cost way to much

Yeah, I never picked up Optimus either, but I've got the other two! I don't know, I'll think it over. It all really comes down to how much it's going to cost. Which, I think the site says it's $77. That's pretty steep, so I'll really have to think about it...

Hey TPR, if you're thinking of getting Optimus and the Powered Convoy set, I looked closely at pics of both the Classics and Henkei versions of Prime, and noticed that both of their vehicle mode designs match with the trailer. So, if you want to get a Prime, either the Classics or Henkei one will match with the trailer.

Hey guys. I'm the writer for the comic, and also made the CG clip for FansProject. Just wanted to clear up something in the main post. When Optimus and the other characters refer to "Ra-mus", its their Universes' version of Primus. The Ironhide character in this story has no name. :)

Thanks for the clarification Venksta.

I already recived and have played with my City Comander set. It is beyond AWSOME! It is most certinly not a kids toy, but it is incredible.

In fact I'm so impressed with the way Ultra Magnus looks when combined, I'm considering buying a Nemesis Prime just so I can buy his Shadow Comander armor.

Thanks for clarifying that about the whole "Ra-mus" deal. I will correct that as soon as I can. I can't fix it right now since I'm using a Wii.

I just have a question.

1. Do the leg panels interfere with the knees bending?
Sabrblade said,  - 2008-10-19 14:07:52
No, the armor does't affect any of the joints. Or so it looks like in all the galleries I've seen.

BTW, the description's error has been fixed. He's not "Ra-mus", he's just an unnamed bot.

Thanks for the info, Sabr. I'd probably just pick up classics and save myself the hassle of importing and such. It's probably cheaper that way.

I actually like the Cybertron music, I thought it fit well. Especially considering that the animateion itself is like half a step below the animation they actually had in the show. That transformation clip is so good for a fan made project, it's just like the trailer, you'd almost think it was official. Top Notch, really.
