I like the sleak head on leo prime but I think it would be better if instead of autobot simbol he should have a maximal simbol and also I love the colour it's a more natural red like the red you find on dingos
(an australian wild dog)

I don't get Leo Prime's color scheme. It makes him look like the child of Primal Prime and Nemesis Breaker (his mane is taken directly from that toy).

And sadly, these are the same pics we saw last time.

Rats! I'd thought that they would have done something like this: give Leo Prime (a better name would be Leomus Prime) a deco based on the original Lio Convoy, and do a new mold for Overload based on the original Micromaster, only bigger.

WAIT! It does have a Maximal symbol. It's on his box! It even says "MAXIMAL" on the side of his box above the symbol. What could this mean!?...

An Autobot symbol on the toy and "Maximal" on the box. Let the intrigue continue...

I don't loke Leo Prime's color scheme at all. Hasbro would have been much better off releasing the Leo Convoy toy with the Leo Prime name. I won't bother buying it. I am waiting for Cyclonus.

I wish Leo Prime were the gold/white color scheme of Leo Convoy. And, the Autobot symbol with Maximal packaging only means it's a promo photo, not a finished product.

I also am curious as to why we're getting a second repaint of Cybertron Defense Scattorshot so quickly. It's a great toy. But with all the molds Hasbro has avialible to them, you'd think we'd get something else. Especially considering, the first re-paint of CD Scat is on store shelves right now.

"do a new mold for Overload based on the original Micromaster, only bigger."

We would have known ages ago if Overload was a new mold. Its easier for them to hide repaints than it is new molds.

And regarding Leo Prime's Maximal and Autobot insignias, I think he is actually a Maximal and those Autobot insignias are a forced necessity for the packaging.

I like to think that the first Maximals and Predacons co-existed witn Autobots and Decepticons for a while and this Leo Prime is both Autobot and Maximal.

There's still a part of me that thinks this could end or fuel the fire on the whole Lio Convoy/Leo Prime debate. If you look at it, this figure could be an homage to Lio Convoy's pre-earth mode from BWII. And that's the thing about homage; it doesn't have to look just like the original, which, when you think about it, is why the entire debate exists at all.

Pre-Earth Lio Convoy:

It's also really interesting to me that they gave him a blue version of the Jungle Planet Cyber Key. I'm actually a little surprised that they didn't give him Cybertron Optimus' Matrix Cyber Key considering Leo Prime is a... Prime. Then he could have had his very own Matrix of Leadership.

The Scattorshot redeco into Overload is a direct homage to G1 Micromaster Flak just as Cybertron Quickmix was redecoed into the colors of G1 Micromaster Erector.

I don't know, TPR. He's got a little too much blue to be a reference to his/Lio Convoy's pre-Earth form.

I still say he looks a little too much like Primal Prime (even though the idea for his colors seem to have been a generic "Optimus Prime"-esque color scheme).

TPR, fill me in. I'm afraid I'm not very knowledgable when it comes to the, "whole Lio Convoy/Leo Prime debate." What's the debate?

Okay, Perc. I sent the email. Like I said, it's a doosey. You've been warned.

So is this toy a rejected prototype? I'm talking about both color variations, not just the red version. I know it's sold only at Target. But I see what folks mean when they say the transformation is almost nothing. Could this have been a rejected prototype, maybe for the Predacon Razorclaw? & they decided to make a deal with Target by giving it Optimus Prime's face to help it sell more? I assume this isn't related to Leo Convoy? Maybe influenced by it? It would of been interesting to have seen this toy in normal lion colors with the original head they may have planned on marketing with. While I thought the white version of this toy was alright, yeah the red version could well be one of the worst looking Primes I've ever seen! Yellow may have been better and more accurate to what the original version may have been meant to look like if in fact this is some sorta rejected prototype.
Is it possible that maybe they released the white version to test market for the possibilities of releasing that Japanese Leo Convoy related Beast Wars anime series? It seems kinda hard to believe after all these years that Hasbro would do that now. I'd like to see someone custom paint this guy in the normal yellow and brown colors to see what Hasbro mave have originally planned , if in fact this toy (not color variation) is a rejected prototype of some sort. I know it lacks quality so I can see why Hasbro may have decided not to market it on a larger scale. The robot made does look half decent in white color. It certainly does remind one of Leo Convoy, but even Leo Convoy looked more like a normal red Optimus w/o having to color the whole lion red! U R right, a red lion makes little sense. This ain't Voltron! I wonder now if anyone ever colored red the original Primal apes or bat? I'd like to see that. However I suspect it too would look aweful.
