Transformers sites, 2001

A walk down memory lane...

Search Google, the way it was in 2001.  Google says they'll only keep this around for about a month.  Search for Transformers, and you'll find listings dominated by electrical transformers, not toys.  The toy line related results sport Hasbro's beastwars.com and Ben Yee's bwtf.com on page 1.  On page 2, the now defunct Primacron's Transformers Webpage, Transfans.com, Unicron.com, (defunct) Devvi.com, and TFMultiverse.com.

Of course we've since been joined by many other TF fan/collector sites today, but even back then there were lots more Transformers fan sites, as can be seen from our long links section from 2001.

Does anyone have any memories from these old sites?

Wow, that is a pretty sweet walk down memory lane to see some of those sites as they were in '01. That Vector Sigma key was a 3D model/graphic that we used to produce that component of our first accessory pack (for Beast Machines!). I remember we released that banner w/o anyone knowing what we were about to release... Pretty cool inside gag...

I miss TFMultiverse, they had a feature called badass robot of the month, hilarious.

This was around when my family first started getting the internet. I loved the content on Hasbro's page, but wanted more. I went to Ben Yee's site and loved the incredible amount of info there. After finding out that unofficial sites were useful too, I followed his links to Unicron.com and Dave's TF page. These sites are still the cornerstones of my webbrowsing.

Ahh, yes. I remember both beastwars.com and beastmachines.com quite well. Both were incomplete and full of outdated info (as of 2001).

I miss bwtf.com dearly. It was the first TF site that I really got hooked onto. According to Ben Yee's latest update, he plans to relaunch the site sometime this month (October).

Wow! This site looked SO different back then. I don't think I found this site until 2003 (but I didn't adopt the name "Sabrblade" or start commenting intil years later).

wow, there are some memories there...I remember personally trading with many many people including joel from bbts. There were also a few cool "parts shops" around at that time...it was certainly a better hobby then in my eyes.
