Hasbro Q&A with!

Posted by:
Perceptor at 2008-10-14 4:36 pm

Lukis Bros and Site Administrators were thrilled with the chance to  to ask questions of the Hasbro Transformers Team recently.  Wo-hoo! There's good news and bad news contained below!  Read on to learn what we asked and how they responded.

Perceptor (and his 6-year old daughter!) ask:   Can you tell us about your plans to produce female character toys for Transformers, especially including SARI but we’re also interested to hear about your plans for Arcee and Genaral Strika (as well as human figures such as professor Isaac Sundac, Capt. Fanzone and super-human villans like the Angry Archer.

Arcee is a fan favorite character and will become more fleshed out in the upcoming season of TF Animated.  We have a toy planned for her as well.  No Plans for Strika right now.  As for the humans, as much as we would all want an Angry Archer figure, there are no plans to produce the humans.

Sabrblade asked:  I’d like to know more about what else is planned to commemorate Transformers 25th Anniversary.  Will there be more "completely show-accurate" versions of characters from past lines like cartoon accurate Universe Deluxe Starscream figure or other “Masterpiece” figures?

We are looking at releasing another Masterpiece figure in the US in Fall 2009, but are not ready to make an announcement yet.  Also we are glad you liked the new version of Starscream.  I think that we are looking at each character individually and deciding how we want to handle it. But there might be a few more suprises for you in 2009. (Jason) asked:  Can you tell us about the Transformers Animated Constructicons making their way to toy form: size, price point, potential release date, will they interact/unite in anyway?

Contrary to Popular belief.  We have no concrete plans for Animated Constructicon Product.  Any drawings that support evidence otherwise are merely situational design explorations in the event that we one day decide to do them.

Knightwing asked: I would like to ask how many more figures are planned for Transformers Animated as a way to see if Animated is officially an “ongoing” series?   In other words, does Hasbro have plans to evolve it into something else; in the way that Armada became Energon which became Cybertron which was phased out in favor of Classics…?  We hope not, we love Aniimated and would like to see it stick around for awhile!

We look at Transformers Animated as its own thing, so if the story evolves it will likely still be called Transformers Animated, and maybe have a sub-name.  Hasbro plans to continue with the Animated toys throughout 2009 as we anticipate the series continuing on Cartoon Network throughout the year.

Byrerprime asked: Is Transformers going to offer "Comic Book Packs" similar to Star Wars and G.I. Joe, where a classic figure is packaged with a reprint of a pertinent comic?

We have begun to do this with some exclusives.  There are one or two coming out this fall, but will likely be at a higher price point than the SW and Joe packs since our figures are so much bigger.  I know one is a Voyager and Deluxe packed with a comic.

I guess the masterpiece will be okay
Sabrblade said,  - 2008-10-14 18:04:41
Out of all the Masterpieces that have not been released in the U.S. yet, the new one could be either Magnus (doubt it), Perfect Edition Convoy (want it, but still doubt it), Megatron (want it, but not likely), Skywarp (possible), Thundercracker (possible), or the upcoming Grimlock (possible when it's made).

But that's not really what I was going at. I just want to know if there are gonna be more "show-accurate" figures coming. *sigh* I guess I'll have to wait and find out what these "surprises" are.

Masterpiece, eh....Only one thing-Either Thundercracker, Skywarp, Ultra Magnus, or something completely unexpected!

Yeah, I never got around to coming up with a question. The whole having a girlfriend thing now definitely interferred with this oppritunity. Oh well, at least she likes Transformers. So I guess you win some and lose some...

I'm gonna be saving up for 2 YEARS to get an MP Grimlock. After all, me Someone need Dinobots! And I also would need Henkei Rodimus for any G1-homage Arcee to work well. Or a Springer toy.
Knightwing said,  - 2008-10-15 05:21:54
I'm happy to hear Animated is going to continue for a long while.

The next MP at US retail is almost certinly Grimlock. There's the possiblity of an as yet un-announced MP-09, but that doesn't seem likely.

It is very cool that after only a short 22 years of hounding Hasbro, we may actually get an Arcee toy.

Hey Perceptor, I haven't been able to contact Jason via Email and I have a few new freakin' awesome customs that I'd like to add to the galleries, what would you suggest I do?

Hmmm...that part about "no animated constructicons" rings hollow. They had TWO FULL EPISODES in season two dedicated to the Constructicons. That doesn't make sense, since EVERY OTHER TRANSFORMING ROBOT CHARACTER in the show so far has been produced or announced. Maybe not counting Ironhide, but he looked exactly like Ratchet, so we can figure...
This tells me one of three things:
1. The movie constructicons (7 figure combiner) are real and the Animated guys are being backburnered to help build up to what would have to be a "toy of the year" type supreme-sized Devastator
2. The Animated Constructicon toys I thought I had already heard were confirmed were determined to have flaws that would displease fans, i.e. no combination or a stupid one
3. The Animated Constructicons are in the works but they don't want any thing to leak. I had previously thought maybe they would gain the ability to combine with other machines, like Soundwave, or possibly they retro-engineer Headmaster Technology and gain the ability to make Devastator out of practically any of their fellow Transformers. That, especially, would be a feat for Hasbro and a really cool way to go for the characters. I can just hear "Scrap" and "Mix" as they discuss this new development...

FYI, Namey Name Guy (whose comment I just deleted due to its vulgar & insulting nature), Perceptor is married to a woman. So it would make sense him him to have children.
Namey Name the Namer said,  - 2008-10-18 23:19:18
OMG you sound like you're 5! "Perceptor is married to a WOMAN!" HAHAHAHA!!!! I don't believe you but you're funny!!!
Sabrblade said,  - 2008-10-19 07:45:36
Dude, look at his section of the "About Us" page. Just look at what year he was born in a do the math yourself to find his age. Don't go jumping to conclusions about people without knowing squat about them.

Oh, settle down, I'm just messing with ya! This is a awesome site or I wouldn't come here. You, Perceptor and all the rest do a great job which is why this is one of the premier TF sites. Don't get so uptight. But I kinda went too far, so I apologize to you and Perceptor.

This is probably a far fetched dream, however: How awesome would it be to see Unicron appear in the final Transformers movie? (Michael Bay film)

Imagine how insanely huge he would look compared to the Earth! Also when he transforms, wow just wow. I'd love to see that on the big screen as many others would too.
