If there's one thing that's very fitting of Sentinel Prime, it's that his design was deliberately based off the Tick to complement the voice actor, Townsend Coleman, who played the Tick in the old cartoon.

Sentinel may not have outright died, but is still very much the butt of often deserving jokes. (Stasis Cuff'd in Mission Accomplished, Decapitated in Return of the Headmaster, verbally owned by Ultra Magnus in The Elite Guard) I guess he's taken on the role of whipping boy for the series. Which, when you consider how much of a jerk he is, makes a lot of sense.
