New comparison images of Henkei Cyclonus

HK-TF.com has new images of the upcoming Henkei Cyclonus toy. The images also show it standing next to the Universe Cyclonus toy to compare the two. The Henkei version looks to be far more show-accurate in color compared to the Universe one, and has chrome on his wings and in Nightstick. Click here to see the images.

I actually like the hasbro version better. I'll get the henkei just so cyclonus has his armada. Now what are the chances we'll see a new scourge figure in this line?

We won't get a Scourge. They are putting Universe on hold soon and concentrating solely on the movie and to a lesser extent than they did this year, Animated. There may be new repaints we don't know about; Countdown and Darkwind were a surprise and they say they are interested in doing Ultra Onslaught as G1 Hardhead (but whether that actually comes to pass, nobody knows yet). I don't expect the next new Universe molds to be made until after the movie is done with. Late 2010 I think. Until then just use your Titanium Scourge as a substitute.

As far as Henkei Cyclonus goes, I am passing on the Hasbro version to get the Henkei version. I really don't like the grey plastic on the Hasbro toy. Whether Henkei Cyclonus looks like the show character's color scheme is debateable but I certainly do like him a lot more than Hasbro Cyclonus. Those two shades of purple looks really good on him.

I cant find him either! Especially after the holidays, I guess we're going to have to wait for some time until we can find any of these figs again.

I prefer the Univers coloration

Well, the Henkei figures really are designed to be more show accurate. Near as I can tell, the point is that Hasbro has slightly more realistic colorations where as Henkei is catering more towards the hard core G1 fanbase. That said, honestly, I'm fine with the Hasbro versions. I'm on too much of a budget to shell out twice the price (sometimes more) on line for a figure that I can find in a store. Plus, I actually like the more realistic and in some cases (like Cyclonus) darker tones. Cyclonus should be a dark, menacing force, and lavender isn't menacing.

I've been going with the Universe figures and ignoring the Henkei versions, and Cyclonus will be no different (assuming I can find him, but I havn't given up hope).
I *may* give Hasbro Cyclonus a repaint, but he's not at the top of the list (so far, doing some paint details on Prowl is a must, since he looks so cheap to me with all the white paint, followed by some silver paint to Ironhides' face and feet).
It ddoes annoy me though, that they keep getting the better stuff in Japan though and not here. I wouln't say that our stuff needs to be colored exactly like theirs, but these days Hasbro does seem to be trying to skimp on paint. And I can't remember hearing of many chromed Hasbro figures since the Beast Wars era (maybe I'm not remembering something though).
And BTW, wasn't there an aborted Fortress Maximus release here in the states for RID? He wasn't re-released here, but he was in Japan.

Yes, Brave Maximus couldn't be sold in the U.S. because he kept failing the safety drop tests.

However, his character in the show came over as Fortress Maximus (RiD) still.

I will get the henkei version and use it for 'and his armada' as I like the character more and I think the universe version suits Cyclonus's personality.
