Animated Not Dead Yet?

Posted by:

Amazon.com has put up a slightly unusual new preorder for a Transformers Animated book "Starscream Flies Again". The book is 24 pages long and priced at $3.99, so it is probably a young readers book, although the baffling part is it is not due out until September - by which time the Revenge of the Fallen merchandising machine will be in full swing. So has Amazon made a small goof in the series that this belongs to, or does this mean that Transformers Animated might still have some life left in it? Stay tuned for more details.

Sorry about the wait Perc. I hadn't checked my mail in a while with all the movie hype and whatnot.

Hmm, could this be hope for the fangirls? 8D

Hmm, I don't think this could be any continuation of the series. It's, like you said, probably just a young readers book.

Either way, you're still right about Animated not being dead yet. There are still lots more new figures to come out like:

Deluxe:
* Arcee
* Electrostatic Soundwave
* Freeway Jazz
* Cybertron Mode Ratchet
* Rodimus Minor (WHY did they call him this!?!)
* Fugitive Waspinator
* Ironhide

Voyager:
* Hydrodrive Bumblebee
* Golfire Grimlock
* Thundercracker
* Blackout
* Wingblade Optimus Prime

Activators:
* Fireblast Grimlock
* Soundwave

Bumper Battlers:
* Workzone Bulkhead
* Stealth Ninja Jazz

@Sabr: True, but all credit for this post goes to Perceptor. I've been slacking here recently(sorry) but now I should be able to get things done. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go seek out some news of my own! :D

Was Rodimus even called a Prime in the show? Honestly, the only thing from that press stuff that's been confirmed in the show is the fact that Brawns littler that Bumblebee but stronger than Bulkhead.

I thought is was announced that Hasbro cancelled Arcee and the other animated toys?
Lord Megatron said,  - 2009-06-02 23:58:32
@skywarp1985: Hasbro DID cancel the Animated toyline, but the canceled figures can and will still be released under the Universe toyline, most likely sporting the Universe packaging.

@LM

Actually, the new toys will be released under the Animated packaging.

About Rodimus, his name was spoken as and credited as simply "Rodimus" in "TransWarped".

However, his TFCC Magazine bio (which is official and was written by the Animated staff) came out first, before "TransWarped" first aired on TV. It was here that his name was first stated as "Rodimus Prime".

Plus, the Animated cartoon clearly stated that those who command teams are at the rank of Prime.

It is the toy that messed up the name. Whereas it should have been "Rodimus Prime", the toy has been labeled as "Rodimus Minor".

I believe this mistake was due to the confusion of his altmode's appearance. His altmode is designed after G1 Hot Rod, instead of G1 Rodimus Prime. This however, shouldn't affect his name, as his character has already been established as a Prime.

Besides, one's look doesn't always affect their name. Take a look at Energon Downshift. He's the spittin' image of G1 Wheeljack, yet his name's not "Wheeljack", it's "Downshift" (and the show even called him "Cliffjumper" more often than "Downshift").

All in all, "Rodimus Minor" is the wrong name for this figure, as he's supposed to be "Rodimus Prime" despite the look of his altmode.

Sabrblade said,  - 2009-06-04 07:57:45
Don't worry.

These were all seen at BotCon. Perceptor will surely show images of mot/all of these when he continues his BotCon 2009 reviews.

I think the cancellation of animated is just an advertising ploy to boost the silly new movie. Animated was way better written than the movies and Bay didn't want the critical competition, so for now we believe animated is gone and will "buy into" the movies. Maybe Bay will hire ME to write TF3 so he won't have this problem.

For the issue of the Animated toys, yes they will be released as Animated as far as we know. At Botcon they said they would be late 2009, and that also includes a recolor of Bumblebot as Wasp.
As far as Starscream goes I'm one chromosome off being a fangirl for him. I find him by far to be the greatest charachter ever sported by tf.
As far as will TFA rise again? I'm certain it will. Perhaps not as a season 3 but perhaps akin to Takara's TF Headmasters in that a direct sequal with numerous original characters in their original forms will be used to create a direct sequal. That would be something and I think that would be the best way to go.

Even though Animated isn't quite dead yet, it's too bad that Prowl, Starscream, Ratbat, and Yoketron are.

In fact, this is the first any Starscream has ever truely died for good.
