RARE G2 Protectobots on Ebay

Transformers collector Delphan Rane has posted an Ebay auction for a set of four extremely rare holy grails: The G2 Protectobots - First Aid, Streetwise, Groove, and Blades -  Mint on sealed card and AFA graded.

Originally, back in the days of Generation 2, these four, and Hot Spot, were to have been mass-produced for general retail along with the Stunticons, Combaticons, Aerialbots, and the Constructicons. However, only the Constructicons (in two color schemes), the Aerialbots, and the Combaticons ever made it into mass release. The Stunticons and the Protectobots never got to see the light of day... until recently.

However, the G2 Stunticon Breakdown would be released as a BotCon exclusive, but nothing ever became of the other Stunticons or any of the Protectobots. Though, some small quantities of factory-packaged samples of each team were produced, but are extremely hard to come by (with Hot Spot and Motormaster being the rarest of them all).

Why didn't they release these on the shelves?!?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!?! This is why we need time travel!

Where is Hotspot? Wow that may be the most ridiculous opening bid I have ever seen for a set of Transformers. I have a feeling this dude will be sitting on these for a while.

@KilledbyDeath: G2 Hot Spot and Motormaster are so rare that no packaged samples of either of them have ever surfaced, and only a handful of unpackaged test-shots are known to exist.

In fact, the number of all ten figures that are known to exist are less than a dozen EACH.

Someone might actually buy these. I saw the Stunticons up for auction a while back when I was only starting to collect. They went up pretty high with like 2k each at least I think. These guys are all graded (I still don't know anything about AFA other than it makes sealed figs cost more) and its 4 in one.
What I hate about rare figures like this though is that we'll never get to see what they look like in their other modes. Had these guys been released, their combined form would have looked amazing, and their color scheme looks loads more original than Guard City (even the ambulance looks more original judging by the character art recolor). It'd be nice if Hasbro could just release these guys anyway, at least as a TCC exclusive like Piranacon.

Well, an image of the combined forms of Defensor and Menasor can be seen here:

I did win the G2 Motormaster that was on ebay during last year and I do have him, G2 Breakdown, & G2 Drag Strip (MOSC) from the second auction on him [referring to DS].

To let you all know..even with G2 Motormaster that I do have, I am up for him being a Club Exclusive with the others.

The kind of die hard completist fan willing to let go of 15k in order to own these relics. That's who.

"WHAT 15,000 who in this bad economy and job market can spend 15,000 on toys"

I believe the correct answer is crazy person. And what a shock the auction ended with no bids.

Those 2 are one of sets i got back after being stolen... i've got the g1 and g2 set :)....
Breakdown was my first ever transformer, then the rest of the stunticons alongside with OP, Soundwave, Megatron and Shockwave.

I would defenitly buy it if i didn't have it---> no matter the price.

Definately over priced. For that kind of money at least include hotspot. I saw his other g2 stuff for sale. Way over-priced.

For that kind of money by a real car or put a down payment for one.
