Where is Thy Sting? Discussion

Believe or not, the latest episode of Transformers Animated titled "Where is Thy Sting?", has shown up on YouTube much earlier than its expected airdate. You can view the episode in four parts: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4.

In this episode, we get a return of several familiar faces (including the title character Wasp), as well as Jazz, Sentinel Prime, and the Jet Twins! (At last!)

I thought it was a pretty good episode. Good to see Jazz and Sentinel in there again. The intro to Jetfire and Jetstorm was good. Interesting voices for the two of them. It was funny how Sentinel couldn't drive in the rain and had to keep transforming to robot mode to travel. I like the way Cybertron looks with it's two moons. The ending of the episode was kind of a shocker. I'm not gonna spoil it but it's definitely a shocker. They're not pulling any punches with this season. The Cyber Gladiators video game was cool especially with the face of "Torq III" the super computer from the Generation One Season Two episode "Day of the Machines". Don't know who the two game characters were...Noob or Snake-Eyes vs. General Grevious? Season 3 is looking to be a great season...

Wow, totally great story. Had me at the edge of my seat. Very cool to see the twins and more of Shockwave. Very nice "Day of the Machines" reference (glad to see you caught that too crazyfist1979). My only complaint is that the animation seemed really... different. It wasn't bad, but all the characters looked a little less robot-y than they should. Sentinel Prime and Jazz were far to slender, for instance. Clearly a different animation studio than usual. All in all, great show with some serious repercussions. Still wondering what's going on with Sari though.

Dude holy $#!+ i didnt expect those two to come out of nowhere like that. That is one of the best, heck that is the best Character intro i've ever seen.

Ultra Magnus near death? What the heck?

What else can his thunder hammer do?

And Why is SP still such an @$$? I swear the writer want to make him more and more of one each episode
Prime13 said,  - 2009-03-25 08:46:27
who new that their helmets/armour was that easy to remove?

shockwave kill ultra magnus.... shockwave kill EVERYBODY next!

why did ironhide ask where his hammer was? thats not usually the first thing you think when you see someone dying...

Guys, I hate to say it, but Season 3 just isn't doing it. 'Where is Thy Sting?" was awful. "Three's a Crowd" was decent at best, and "Transwarped" was terribly written and was made to completely negate everything accomplished in Season 2. TFA is falling fast, which sucks, because it was really good. But if you look at the episodes we are getting now in comparison to the epsisodes of Seasons 1 & 2, it's not as good. I don't know if it's just that the writers and actors have been away from the characters for too long since they mad the first two seasons straight through and had a huge break in between 2 and 3, but something is off. Oh well, all good things must come to an end, I suppose.

The fact that Ironhide was in this episode suggest the Rodomus' unit survived.

@TPR: Aw, man! C'mon! I thought that Trans-warped was the BEST episode so far! I thought that Season 1 was the worst of the series. I mean, I agree that three's a Crowd was pretty lazily written but the 2 other episodes of this season have been beautifully composed! I'm sorry for exploding there, as all people are entitled to their own opinions but, maybe we should re-consider.

Great story. Makes up for the lame one last week. I still hold that Sentinal Prime ia a major A$$hole. I liked how Wasp told SP all the stuff he did to him that he tried blame on BB. The tins were pretty cool. Great intro. Gonna have to get the toys now.I hope Magnus is going to be OK. Can't wait to see what happens next week.
TriPredRavage said,  - 2009-03-25 13:45:12
No, way dude, Season 3 blows. I'm sorry, they proved the Wasp/Bumblebee thing by ALMOST playing video games. Then, there wasn't even a resolution. The lights went out and then they found bumblebee out side. It's almost like they couldn't think of a way to fix everything so they just cut and ran.
The writing of Transwarped was entirely made up of references to remind us what happened, but they ignore the fact that we've all seen the episodes a thousand times. They've played pretty much every day since they've aired, we haven't forgotten. Maybe the actors had, but they shouldn't be acting lines to remind themselves what happened.
Bumper Robinson didn't do too great with acting as Wasp acting as Bumblebee, but Kenny did well acting as BB acting as Wasp.
Sentinel and Jazz showed up, and they all just staired at each other, despite that Optimus' crew has been trying to get in touch with the Elite Guard for weeks now. I'm sorry, there was just no urgency at all. Sadly, Jetfire and Jetstorm were annoying. And you're telling me that Ultra Magnus can't take down Shockwave by himself? Magnus is the most powerful Autobot on the bots' side. And then, we didn't even get to see the fight! That's not drama, that's pathetic!
I'm sorry, season 3 is fading and I'm glad to see it's the last season as it can at least end with some dignity.

TPR, they had to let Wasp escape. Remember, he's till gotta mutate into Waspinator later. (at least, he should!)

Plus, Ultra Magnus is not the most powerful of all the Autobots, the Jet Twins are. "Supreme Commander" does not equal "most powerful", it equals "main boss in charge". Remember when Stascream took him out with one blast? Sure it was point-blank range, but still.

And as for the revelation through gaming, yeah I thought that could've been better. I would've liked to have seen them actually play each other. In fact, I had thought they would've played and Wasp would've (miraculously)beaten BB, making it more difficult for BB to prove his identity. But instead they had it so that Wasp knew he would lose and got desperate, seeing escape as his only way out. But I say better for him to escape than to be captured, for that gives out a better chance for him to wind up becoming Waspinator.

The twins REALLY could have used new voice actors. With Jetstorm, it's like listening to Hermes from Futurama. Personally, I think it would have been better with Rino Romano as Jetstorm and maybe Will Friedle as Jetfire.
Agent X said,  - 2009-03-25 18:09:40
the twins sounded kinda Russian and Jamacain at the same time
TriPredRavage said,  - 2009-03-25 18:50:32
I knew that Wasp would have to escape, but I just thought it would be more exciting... or actually be in the episode. It was honestly like they couldn't think about how to get Bumblebee freed, so they didn't show it.

And I know he's not the most powerful, as I am sure that Omega Supreme at least is more powerful, but he is at least the most powerful Autobot politically! Either way, I would have rather seen Magnus get wrecked.
hot rod said,  - 2009-03-25 19:10:47
woah wasp is like an alien when he takes off his mask, like ET
hot rod said,  - 2009-03-25 19:11:01
wow, animation error, Jazz is stood besides wasp at the end instead of Jetstorm
TriPredRavage said,  - 2009-03-25 19:27:21
@hot rod
If you are talking about the part at the end where they find Bumblebee outside, it's always Jetstorm. I just checked it, Wasp is never present.
Sidewinder said,  - 2009-03-25 21:22:45
Personally, I give this one a solid B. It was pretty interesting. The only thing that dragged it down for me were the twins. I just found their personalities annoying. Maybe I need to get to know them more, but so far, not so good. I liked the ending, it shows that Shockwave does not mess around (yet again).

Probably the question of "Where's your hammer?" comes from either som symbolism of that hammer, or the fact that it's one of the Autobot's most powerful weapons. Either way, I'm sure we'll find out its very significant. I'm curious as to who will ascend to Magnus now.
hot rod said,  - 2009-03-25 21:27:18
@ tripredrevenge, no its when prowl kicks jetfire and jazz is standing there instead of jetstorm then they show jazz, SP , and the other autobots

If ultra magnus is dead? who is second in command to lead the autobots
shin prime said,  - 2009-03-27 07:34:52
In my opinion it was a very good episode and i agree
with whom said that the twins where a little annoying when talking. They Sounded like blitzwing. I hope they stop using the german accent on the characters. On the other hand the twins fight very well, looked very powerful and the way they showed them flying more than once on the city looked quite menacing. If and i say if! Ultra magnus dies! i think his replacement could be Dai Atlas. I found a sketch of him on the net. If Dai Atlas will be introduced in the show, and if he will be powerful as he was in the Transformers Zone movie i can say bye bye decepticons!! I guess they will not make his character so powerful. Does anyone thing that bumblebee is so cute without a mask??
I wish to see sentinel prime changing because he is becoming more stupid every episodes and he has quite some powerful weapons. OHH GOD GIVES NUTS TO THOSE WITHOUT TOOTH.
Sabrblade. said,  - 2009-03-27 10:22:04
I doubt it would be Dai Altas, as he's part of the ninja clan, not the Elite Guard. I think Ultra Magnus' replacement would be either Rodimus Prime or (lord forbid) Sentinel Prime.

I thought "Where's Thy Sting" was a good and such great drama up on Cybertron! Will Ultra Magnus survive? The only part I was really irked about was that Wasp was still in robot form. The toys have him as a insect wasp. I was hoping for some back story with Blackarachnia...transforming Wasp in the bug. I also hope to see more of the Starscream clones...especially the purple and teal one...perhaps, Dreadwind or Darkwing?
luvtransformers said,  - 2009-03-30 16:12:36
I got to agree with starscreamed on that one.I was really looking forward to seeing waspinator insect mode.Oh and I wonder what shockwave is going to do with ultra magnus's hammer.
