Megatron & 09 Updates

Posted by:

ROTF MEGATRON toy is a significant improvement over his movie 1 predecessor.   Check out his all new character page in our revamped 2009 Section.

You'll also find links to two galleries from the teaser and standerd ROTF movie trailers.  Maybe this is a good time to ask, does anyone know who THIS or THIS is??

Stay tuned, there will be more from Botcon soon to come!

I don't know, nothing against you Perceptor, but those pictures have convinced me to skip on him. It's not the photography, top notch as usual, but now that I see him in the hands of a good photographer, I'm going to skip for the voyager, unless the Leader massively goes on clearance.

And that last face is either Grindor or the Fallen.

Have fun at BotCon, can't wait for the news and such! =D

The first guy is likely a protoform, but the identity remains a mystery.

Unlike DocWho I have a total opposite reaction of Megs. guess i gotta make room on my shelves.

im pretty sure the second one is ether jetfire, fallen, or grindor,

I agree with Sabr that guy is a protoform.

I can surely say that none of them are Jetfire.

Nuts to what you guys think of the toy, I still want him. He actually looks cool as a tank, even with that big arm of his. He'll still win in an arm-wrestling contest.

It's surprising to me, just from looking at photos I didn't care for the disproportional arms. But seeing him in real life it doesn't bother me at all. Actually, what it's missing is an elbow. If it had one, that robot mode would be A+ top notch. But even as it, it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would.

Initially, I wanted this figure. Then after the first images of him started to roll into forums and topics I quickly lost interest. However, now seeing him in this light, I think that I may actually grab this guy up. I mean, he's no Leader Class ROTF OP, but if he's better than the first movie's Megs he's a definate for me! I have only one question and the answer to this is probably pretty obvious with the alt mode and such but, why does Megatron(from the Movie lines) always seem to get the worst treatment out of the Leader class figures? Can't Hasbro pull off an amazing movie Megatron figure instead of this simplistic waste of $40 that we've been getting? I don't know, maybe it's just me. I'm going to buy him, don't get me wrong, but whether or not I'll enjoy him is another story.

I find it interesting that they mention that he rebuilt himself from the parts from other Decepticons. I assume most likely they mean while he was on the ocean floor, with 'bots like Brawl and Blackout.
But to think more about it, wasn't Megatron more or less intact when Spike killed him by shoving the Allspark into his chest? I recall him having all four limbs, but then in the Aircraft carrier scene afterward, he seems to be missing an arm and a leg. I wonder what happened?

I honestly think it is Sideswipe

The guy in the first picture looks a lot like Soundwave, actually. He doesn't have all the kibble the toy does, but he does have a similar face and legs, so maybe. I'm holding the figure up to the picture, and they seem pretty similar.

Overhaul, No, Megatron was not more or less "intact" when Sam pushed the Allspark into his chest. He had been pounded by missiles, Sabot rounds, and Autobot plasma fire, his left arm had been blown off, his legs were heavily damaged, most of his torso armor had been blown to pieces as well. So, the scene where he was dumped in the ocean is quite accurate. He was far from intact.

I just picked up today the Leader-Class Megatron (in the Netherlands (!) and I have to say: BRILLIANT! I agree with Perceptor that he is a great great improvement from the previous Megs, and you just cannot wonder why they didn't go for this look in the first movie.

As for his arms, they don't bother me at all, he has his a big frickin' (fusion?) cannon around it! So this one is absolutely recommended.
