Paramount Pictures compiled a very cool video of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen World Premere.

"This <Tokyo, Japan> is the birthplace of Transformers, and I am so happy that we came here first!"
-Tyrese Gibson

They are "the biggest explosions ever put in film, ever, in the history of cinema!"  ...
"The most badass film you could possibly buy tickets to!"
- Shia LeBeouf

Incidentally, the middle of the 3 of us Lukis Brothers is living in Tokyo right now!  So, B, did you make it to the event?!  Can't wait to see your

"Can't wait to see your........" ???

Anyways, from what I've been hearing about this sequel this movie is FAR SUPERIOR than the first, which gives me hope that Bay is headed in the correct direction(plot-wise). ARGH!!! I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE 24TH!!!!!

Tyrese: "This is the birthplace of Transformers..."

Bay: "Tranformers started in Japan..."

LIES! BOTH ARE LIES!

Transformers was created by Hasbro in America! The toys that came from Japan to be used for the Transformers toyline were mainly from Diaclone and Microman Microchange, they were NOT originally Transformers when they were in Japan.

SABR i believe both you and TG/SLB/Bay are right. The toy line idea was started in japan but the name title was in the U.S. Its all a matter of perspective.

if it wasn't for the toys we wouldn't have transformers, so I totally agree that transformers was born from japan.

You misspelled Tokyo. It's T-O-K-Y-O. (No offense.)

Excuuuuuuuse me! Hasbro created the Transformers franchise.

They took existing toy molds from several Japanese toylines to create their onw toys, and the majority of these molds came from the Diaclone toyline and the Microman's toyline's Microchange subline.

THE VERY FIRST TIME ANY OF THESE G1 MOLDS WERE UNDER THE TRANSFORMERS BRAND WAS IN AMERICA IN 1984! JAPAN WAS STILL SELLING DIACLONE AND MICROCHANGE AT THE SAME TIME!!! THEY DIDN'T GET THE TRANSFORMERS LICENSE UNTIL 1985! ONE YEAR AFTER THE USA!

Diaclone and Microchange started in Japan, but The Transformers originated in America! They are NOT the same toylines!!!

In fact, the Microman toyline even still continues to this day!

@LordMegatron: Ok, sure go ahead, steal my name. I mean, it's not like I needed it or anything. You're just the coolest person ever!(sarcasm intended)

As for the "where did Transformers originate" convo, I'm siding with Sabr on this one because I remember during an interview with some of Hasbros celebrities, they stated exactly how "Transformers", not Microman or Diaclone, came into being. The name Transformers was originally coined here on US shores, not in Japan. Go watch some of the commentaries on the 20th anniversary DVD of the original Animated film, this will clear you guys right up.

Thank you. Glad to see someone here does their homework and/or knows their history.

inventing a name means america deserves all the credit?

Sabr's right. It would've been correct to say that that was the birthplace of the toys that became Transformers, not the franchise itself.

However, you could debate that the creation of the Diaclone and Microman franchises was the birth of Transformers, although nobody knew it yet. An unofficial birth, if you will.
