Power Core Combiners Bombshock Review

Posted by:

Thanks to the generous people at Hasbro PR, we were able to get our hands on two of the recently released Power Core Combiner figures; Bombshock with Combaticons and Searchlight with Backwind. I have taken the liberty of reviewing the first figure here, with a second review of Searchlight/Backwind coming soon.

All my reviews are on a sliding scale from 1-10, 1 being Armada Sideswipe, 5 being average, and 10 being Masterpiece level, just in case any of you are confused as to what the final score means.

Let me know what you think of the review!

Bombshock is a good homage to Onslaught without actually being Onslaught. If the toy had been named Onslaught instead then it would fall short of being what one would expect from an Onslaught toy. As it is, it works well as another character. Bombshock works well because he has a simple transformation. More complicated transformations tend to lead to a poorly designed figure in at least one mode. Double Clutch for example has a great looking vehicle mode but a terrible robot and gestalt mode because of his complicated transformation.

I like bombshock as high as an 8 at times for one reason otherwise he'd be 6 or 7 and that reason is that I stupidly passed on a universe ruination gift set years ago :< I have all the G2 Bruticus figures but I dont know if I still have all the accessories like fists and feet etc anymore.

Haven't read the review but will soon enough. I read a review on Bwtf, which praised the minicon but somewhat looked down on Searchlight, but I ended up feeling very opposite on it. BTW does anyone else have the mudslinger/destructicons set? If you do am I the only one whho has one of the legs be very unstable? (to make this related on Searchlight that proplem doesn't really appear but attached to my smolder or mudslinger that leg starts to come off at an angle)
