Headmasters and Victory

Posted by:

Many of us have heard of the Japanese exclusive series Headmasters, Masterforce and Victory.  What a lot of people don't know is that these three series were dubbed in Malaysia into English.  These dubs never made it over to American soil simply because they were so awful.  That being said, I now bring you the results of a youtbue search: Transformers Awful Dub.  These, I believe are clips from the terrible Malaysian dub.  My personal favorite is when they call Metroplex "Philip".

The first episode of Victory, complete with the terrible dubbing, was released with the first DVD version of TFTM here in England... It might explain why the complete series boxset didn't do so well...

I have a copy of the dubbed Headmasters. It is REALLY bad. I can only watch about 3 episodes at a time.
Starscream/Ty said,  - 2007-09-15 17:31:34
How bad my friend?
Knight wing said,  - 2007-09-15 19:12:24
Well, Blaster is called Billy, Spike is called Sparkle, and in some places the dialoge itself seems nearly nonsensicle. bad!

Hey Knight wing, go back to the other news item to check it out. ^_^

Hey all I know of a place to see many of the Jap TF series and have it stay pretty consistant with the classics. Head on over to TFCog.com for their fandubs. I swear they are tons better there. I am G1 Scourge in the Headmasters.

Now if only they'd been dubbed properly....

Finally! The Headmasters through Victory series! The lost years of the G1 series. Awesome!

I hope Zone gets better treatment than this. It deserves nothing less than perfect dubbing.
Knight wing said,  - 2007-09-16 19:10:40
Zone only had one epsiode make it to the air. And, it didn't get much better treatment. Sorry.

I havaen't seen the dubs, but if they're that bad its pretty sad. Headmasters is really c=good mini series, and one episode of headmasters is better than the three rebirth episodes. And need I mention Raiden?

From what I've heard, it isn't worth my time. If yer lookin' for a QUALITY Headmasters and Victory fandub, look on TFCog. They've also got Scramble City and Robot Masters.

Speaking of Japanese Transformers, I`m in Japan now on vacation and I want to bring a couple of the Encore G1 Megatrons home for my brother and I. But of course you can`t bring toy guns on a plane, even in your luggage, does anyone know if it`s OK to mail them to the USA via the post office? Does anyone know if the post office will screen the box? Because, I don`t want them to open the toy package, my brother keeps his unopened.
Darkton said,  - 2007-09-16 23:49:21
I might try packaging them in Robot Mode, Grimlock.

Hey folks, here's subbed episodes of "Headmasters". He's only uploaded 15 episodes, and I don't think that he's going to do anymore, but it was worth watching because it wasn't really that bad of a series. I, personally, enjoyed it. Check it out and see what you think, though.

Sir Grimlock-As far as unopened goes, your out of luck. I don't know if the USPS screens that closly, but if they find it you won't get it back. As for bringing it home on the plane, if they're both in bot mode while going through screening you should be okay.

Wow duckie! I watched them from the same source. Galvatron's voice is so much better in japan, and it even sounds like a japanese David Kaye huh?
Black Starscream said,  - 2007-09-17 20:42:31
Wait, is the encore megatron any good (a.k.a does it include a mace or any significant difference) or is it just an edited replica of S-16 special?
Knight wing said,  - 2007-09-18 16:48:51
It's almost identical to the G1 Megatron. The biggest differece is it comes with plastic bullets.
Duckie said,  - 2007-09-18 23:28:07
I actually like the Japanese ones, to be honest. Soundwave ESPECIALLY sounds good in Japanese to me. But, I'm sort of an anime geek, and the concept of anime transformers isn't too far off for me. However, I'm not so a fan of the more recent ones that came from Japan. I dont know if its the dubbing or what. But yeah, I like the voice acting, and ESPECIALLY how certain characters who make you want to just grab something and kill them aren't that way in this version. Then again other characters who were totally awesome just suck. *sigh*
Oh, and hey. I managed to find one of the Classics figures I needed, so my total count has changed. The local Wal Mart has somehow managed to "find" a lot of the figures that were on the shelves when the movie figures were shipped in at first, and now they're all on the clearance aisle, only they're not very clearancy in price. So, I was walking down the aisle and BAM! I saw Skyfire. Sad part is I was doing a little fight scene with him and another figure...I KICK MYSELF FOR THIS.. and one of the little tiny machineguns on his helmet broke off. So, I spent nearly an hour and different glues trying to glue it back on and failing. I just cut another gun off to match it up (making him look more like a Veritech fighter) and considered it a loss of complete collectibility.
However, if you can find Skyfire BUY HIM! he is AWESOME. *slight review* The transformation is remarkably simple, and his design is absolutly incredible. He comes with plenty of weaponry, and he just looks SO awesome. He looks like some kind of Transformer God or something only he's not that big of a figure, lol. Seriously, I am in love with this toy! ^_^

Okay. I'll stop. Hijacked long enough. Sorry!

I wouldn't go that far, Duckie. I have the Jetfire/Skyfire figure also, and while I enjoy it, it has many down falls. First of all, I almost broke off a cannon myself, so you need to be extra careful with it, it's legs are TERRIBLE, he has limited posibilty, neither his head nor his helmet are in proportion to the rest of his body, the guns on his arms become wiggly after a few transformations and removals. Like I said, I like the figure, and I probably like it more because it is a comicbook exclusive design, but the figure definitly has it's downfalls.

It isn't fair that some can still find Transformers while others can't.
Scorpomike said,  - 2007-09-23 03:28:07
Yeah the English dubs are terrible. I bought Headmasters on DVD on ebay. Overall, the cartoons were cool to watch. Once you get started watching it, you get used to it. There are lots of obvious parts that don't match the American series, but you just have to use your imagination a bit. It's a little irritating when they call Blaster Billy and Metroplex Philip. The American G1 cartoons are definitely better. I'd like to get a hold of Masterforce and Victory. These dubs may be terrible, but it's still fun to watch where the story left off.

I mailed them and my brother got them just fine. So, FYI if you are in Japan and you want to buy any Transformers to bring home, try mailing them to your home address.
