Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to Take Lead Female Role in TF3

Several outlets: Deadline New YorkIMDB, Movieline...are reporting that newcomer Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will take on the lead role in Transformers 3.

While circumstances surrounding Ms. Fox absence are still being discerned, one thing is for sure, Michael didn't fire her to get an actress with more acting ability/experience.  As stated, Ms. Huntington-Whiteley has no acting experience, besides modeling Victoria's Secret lingerie.  But can she act?  See for yourself and here. Then weigh in with your thoughts below...

Can she act well? Nah, probably then. Then again, it's not like Megan Fox could act too terribly well.

Let's face it, Fox's character was largely irrelivent to the plot in either movie. She was just there to be cheesecake, and from the looks of it, that's what they replaced her with too.

Is she British? If she is, there's no doubt she's studied theater at some point, so she COULD act....

I wrote this elsewhere a while back:

Why do we even need a replacement? Why do we even need a love interest?

We go to see the bots in the film, not the humans. The bots are supposed to be the stars, yet they kept playing second fiddle to the puny fleshlings in both of the first two movies. Give the bots the stardom for once. The phrase "human sidekicks" means that they don't save the day, they assist the bots who are supposed to save the day.

It works like this: highly animated, extremely complex CGI robots are expensive. Human actors not so much.

If you waste 20 minutes of a 2 and a half hour long movie doing cliche love story work, then it's an effective means on keeping costs down. ^_^

Given that video clip, her acting skills are on par with Ms. Fox. No I won't say that Megan Fox is a bad actress or that the movie will benefit from her absence. I will say that if you remove her scenes in both movies...same film. You can actually see this effect with Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and 007 Die Another Day. In those, the female lead was essentially there to drive the character from one point to the next, emotionally speaking, while having little to no affect on the overall plot. In Die Another Day it was to the point that you literally could have removed all of Halle Barry's scene and it really would have been the same movie. In the Batman films, the acting ability of the female lead meant so little that they were able to replace the actress and no one noticed or cared.

But AmyBlue is absolutely correct...its cheaper to do a movie about humans featuring giant robots than it is to do a movie about giant robots that kinda features humans.

I agree with Saberblade. Plus this movie was said to be more about the Transformers not the humans. However if they feel it's needed to have a pointless love interest I hope they at least have the common since to have "Mikala" removed and not have this new woman try to fill someone else's shoes.

From what I've seen, I think Megan Fox is way better looking than Huntington-Whiteley. Rosie's lips look deformed.

Megan Fox...gone... Megan Fox...Megan Fox...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(Shakes my fist at the heavens) Personally, I think Megan lookes MUCH better than Rosie, so now I'm sad. And if they really kill off the twins, I will be sadder. And if TF 3 doesn't have Soundwave I will be depressed. And if it doesn't introduce Shockwave I will cry. And if no Sunstreaker who knows what i'll do... No Megan,Twins, SOundwave, Shockwave, and Sunstreaker is a world of sadness.

Here's how I feel:

Megan Fox gone = good

Getting a replacement for her = bad

Let Sam be with the bots without the necessity of a love story thrown in.

Remember G1 with Spike and Carly? There was hardly any romance shown between the two, yet we know they got to together anyway. and it wouked out without needing to show them being all lovely-dovey with each other.

Or how about in Cybertron? The growing relationship between Coby and Lori was gradual and barely touched upon, but it still worked because it wasn't shoved in our faces like the Sam/Mikaela stuff was.
