Masterpiece Megatron, Alternate Mode Announced

Amazing news, Tformers.com reports that there will be a Masterpiece Megatron produced by Takara as an oversized Walter P-38 handgun (same alternate mode as the original) to scale w/ Masterpiece Optimus Prime.  I wouldn't hold my breath that it'll be released domestically.  While it is possible, it seems very unlikely, even if it is oversized, given gun toy laws in the United States.  Unless they were to reproduce it in a nice florescent orange recolor, it sounds like time to look to foreign toy importers...

I like many am going to email Hasbro and ask if he's comming here. When I get a "no comment" I'll place my order with whomever seems best at the time.

Of course this has been on fans' minds ever since the release of Masterpiece Convoy/Optimus Prime. The question is: can they pull it off? As an aspiring kitbasher myself, I've been trying to figure out how to do a transforming MP Megatron myself. I can't figure out how to though, without there being removable parts. Just take alook at the original! His arms are short and thin, his legs are pretty thin too, and the chest just isn't sized right.
I doubt we can get the robot we want with a decent gun mode, without there being s ton of removable parts (kind of cheating for a TF figure). I'll believe it when I see it.

The thing is, if he turns out to be not as good we expected him to be, Masterpiece collectors won't have to worry about buying another version of the mold as this mold can only be applied to Megatron (i.e. the same mold won't work for any other character)

On the other hand, if Takara manage to pull off a Masterpiece Megatron that is well proportioned, posable and fully transformable, with a cool looking gun mode then TF fans will be very pleased indeed!!! We'll just have to wait and see...
