I hate to sound like an old man saying anything new fangled is bad and old junk is good. BUT, I'm disapointed. I realize it is very expensive to retool even one part. While this is a fantastic repaint, it's not g1 Dirge. The classics line is supposed to represent the best modern tech can offer old toys. Well, modern tech allows for a simple wing retool. There's no way I'm spending $300 if they don't get Thrust right. This would have been just fine in my eyes if it had been a general release. Maybe it's time I try my hand at kitbashing and see what I'm capable of.

Well, I for one realize that this was going to happen with Dirge. If you look at his wings in the G1 series, they are similar to Ramjets and it is just a simple repaint. I was planning on going to Botcon anyway, so yeah, I will get this set and all the others that will be sold as premiums. I know that some might call me a sheep for just following and get the set anyway, but it is my choise to get it, I wanted to get all the Classics and that is what I will do. I am hoping for Sunstorm, Nemesis Prime, a purple classics clone seeker, and a recolor of Mirage to be Dragstrip.

I'm not calling any collector a sheep or anything else. I just think that for a Hasbro sponsored event Botcon could have done so much better than this. My problem is disapointment with Hasbro/Botcon and no one else.

The worst part is Dirge looks wonderful. I just wish H/B hadn't taken the easy way out.

If they can produce new head sculpts for the 2003 exclusives Roulette and Shadow Striker, not to mention the 2005 Botcon exclusive Deathsaurus, then it should be trivial to do new wing molds for Dirge (and Thrust).
