The Sparkabots!

Taking an *a-Hem!* slight step back in awesomeness as compared with modern Transformers from Animated or the Movies...  We launch all new character pages for the 1988 Sparkabots: FIZZLE, GUZZLE and SIZZLE.  Unlike earlier G1 figures they didn't have realistic auto modes.  They didn't have super fantastic detailing, they were not pose-able, and their spark shooting gimmick usually wore out after the first several uses.  But they weren't all bad.  At least their alternate modes were recognizable and their arms didn't attach to their torso near the wrist!  >>Just wait, pages for the Firecons are coming soon enough!

Ah, the Sparkabots, I barely know thee.

These guys' Japanese versions, the Autobot Sparkdash, never appeared in any fiction. Not Masterforce, not any cartoon, not any manga, nothing.

And the names of each team's member seems to lead to some confusion, so let me list them all:

U.S. Sparkabots
* Guzzle (tank)
* Fizzle (buggy)
* Sizzle (car)

U.S. Firecons
* Cindersaur (dino)
* Flamefeather (bird)
* Sparkstalker (insect)

Masterforce Autobot Sparkdash
* Hardspark (tank)
* Wildspark (buggy)
* Hotspark (car)

Masterforce Decepticon Sparkdash
* Guzzle (dino)
* Sizzle (bird)
* Javil (insect)

Euro G2 Sparkabots (only two)
* Blaze (buggy)
* Sizzle (car)

Just match altmodes to see who's redecoed from who.

Yeah, toy technology back in the 80's wasn't that complicated. Thank goodness for advancements.

"Transformers (Marvel) #67 Guzzle is the only Sparkabot shown in the "Alternate Reality" universe depicted in this issue. We can presume all Sparkabots are a part of this reality, but are not depicted."

Sizzle and Fizzle are most likely dead before the story Rhythm of Darkness happens.

These guys could really use the Universe treatment, as scout class figures. Same with the Firecons (I happen to own Sparkstalker).

They appeared in Transformers Marvel #46 where they were (along wtih the Triggerbots)sent to Earth to battle the Roadjammers; a trio of bounty hunters hired and equipped with technology capable of stopping Transformers by the "Z Foundation." The Z Foundation turned out to be actually run by Scorponok (in the guise of Zarak his Nebulan binary bond partner) and the Decepticon Headmasters. Their plot was to get humans to help them hunt down the Autobots since they know the Autobots would never knowingly hurt humans because they considered us to be innocents in the Autobot/Decepticon war. Eventually the Roadjammers realize they've been had, and use the tech. Zarak provided to help the Autbots defeat the Decepticons.
