The Audi R8 is not Barricade, his name is...

TFormers has just recieved a few more images of some of the upcoming toys for the ROTF toyline. These images are of several different figures, varying from Deluxes, to FABs, the Legends, even to Mr. Potato Head. Each figure has an image for every mode, and an image for its packaging. Among the packaged ones, one image stands out. The image of the in-packaged Audi R8 Decepticon.

Long thought to be the reformatted body of the first-film Decepticon Barricade, this belief has been proven false. If one were the click this image of the figure in its packaging, the identity of the figure is revealed.

As it turns out...

...the name...

of the Audi R8 Decepticon...

is...

Sideways!

Now, in the past this name has been used to refer to either a minion of Unicron, or a native of Planet X (or both, depending on your view). With The Fallen already in the film, and this guy being a full-fledged Decepticon, we cannot confirm if this guy has any ties to Unicron or not. We'll just have to wait and see.

Wait, folks were thinking the Audi was Barricade? Didn't someone get pics of them transporting two of the Barricade Saleen Mustangs to one of the RotF sites?

Thats cool, I like the idea of new characters, not retools of old ones.

I think the confusion came about because Sideways' had a lot of Barricade's characteristics like the windows looking like wings no his back.

but if it was, i would be alright with that too. he was ordered to say on earth an moniter the Autobots

I just still have problems with Sideswipe not being red, and the leaving out of his brother

Well, what about all the other guys named Sideswipe/Side Swipe who aren't red and have no brothers too?

@ Jumpercliff: They have said this one with it's bigger budget focuses a little more on the bots now so more than likely we will get more lines out of them. Starscream at the least has been guaranteed many more lines (despite that he only had 2 in the first movie).

sabreblade there is some new rotf pics of ramjet,skywarp,whirl,blungeon at tformers.com almost forgot ramjet and skywarp are walmart exclusives and whirl and blungeon are indeed a 2 pack.

they dont count (honestly want thinking about them, but way back when they said there would be Autobot twins these two where who came to mind)

as for repaint... I SEE MANY
Sideswipe atleast twice (once G1 and once as Sunstreaker)
Starscream as other seekers (again)
the constucticons in green

The story of ROTF is "rooted in mythology."

We're going back to the "original 13."

The 'apostle' who turned against Primus became an acolade of Unicron acording to the only story we ever received on him. (War Within: Dark Ages)

Now, it turns out the Audi R8 is "Sideways" who turned out to be a vessel of Unicron in Armada...

The more I hear, the more I wonder if they're building up to have Unicron in TF3...

RiD Sideways became the vessel for Unicron. Takara considers the RiD toyline as a part of Car Robots and thus considers RiD Sideways to the same guy as Doubleface (Armada Sideways).

There is no doubt about the fact that side ways will somehow serve the fallen, and through him unicron. if bay makes this movie untrue to tf mythology, i will be royally pissed.

IT is so odd that the fallen, a herald of Unicron is in the movie along with Sideways, most famous for being the herald in Armada.

Why does Sideways HAVE to be a Unicron minion? Can't they just recycle a used name for a new character (like they always do)?
