Show-Accurate Lio Convoy/Leo Prime redeco of Leobreaker

If you've been a long time fan of Beast Wars, you may have heard of a Japanese spinoff series called Beast Wars II (Beast Wars Second). In this series, there were teams of Maximal and Predacons like the American series, except that they feauted all different charatcers and were led by Lio Convoy and Galvatron. At the time, his figure was made available to the U.S. only as a limited online exclusive.

Fast forward to the near-present, Lio Convoy was (re)introduced to the U.S. through IDW's Beast Wars comics (The Gathering and The Ascension) where he kept his Japanese name, and some at least two action figures, where he was renamed "Leo Prime". Both figures were redecos of the Cybertron Leobreaker mold in different sizes. The first being redecoed from the Legends Class figure, and the second being redecoed form the larger Voyager Class figure (and even received a new headsculpt). However, the Voyager Leo Prime figure wasn't colored like his Beast wars II counterpart (as the Legends figure was), and was instead colored in the traditional "Optimus Prime" red, blue and gray/silver colors (though, his pre-Earth cartoon model bore these colors as well).

Now, TFW2005 has the first images of what might be another possible redeco of the Voyager Leobreaker mold with the Leo Prime headsculpt in show-accurate Lio Convoy colors! Now since nothing has been confirmed yet, take this as a grain of salt, as it could be a custom repainted figure (and it still bears that darn Autobot symbol when he's a Maximal!). But real or fake, this thing looks amazing. Check out the images here.

I saw this yesterday. I'm waiting to see if it is legit or not before I do my happy dance. Also, I am waiting to see that they actually call him Leo Prime.

What other name would they call him? They can call him Lio Convoy in fiction, but they'd never use "convoy" in the toys (that exclusive releasse back then is the only exception since he didn't have an English name and wnated people to know that he was from Japan in both toy and character). More then likely he'll be "Leo Prime", but I'm hoping his bio will be closer to the show portrayal instead of his U.S. comic portrayal (as the first toy was).

On another forum, some guy said this when he saw it:

>>"Guys, that figure is legit. That's not white paint. I can tell that's white plastic and factory paint apps."

>>"If that's homemade then someone made their own molds. I'm 99% sure that's going to be officially released."

And in response to him, another said:

>>"That and one of my buddies at BotCon saw the figure when the Hasbro rep fumbled a few figs under the case as they were setting up the display."

If it is real, I'll get both of them.

Yeah, I saw that yesterday, too, but I have to agree with what somebody else said which was along the lines of "if they had the figure at botcon, why didn't they display it?"

it very well could be what leo prime was going to look like and then was changed to the red and blue.

I like this one guys take on it. "I wish they wouldn't try to mimic one of the best Beast TFs ever made by using one of the WORST beast TFs ever made.

Just use the original mold, or don't bother."
Besides that when i saw the head mold for some reason I thought it was either awful or recycled from animated. And considering hasbro repainted Vector Prime Lio could easily be repainted too (not to mention prime was reissued/recolored so a late late 90s fig should be able to also do that.)
