Video Game Review: Beast Wars Transmetals PS1

Welcome to day 2 of my video game review week.  Today we review what was my favorite Transformers game for a few years Transformers: Beast Wars Transmetals for the PlayStation One.  This game had it all!  From a strong character roster, to plenty of bonus content... but that's enough talking about it here!  I've discussed it all in this new review, so check it out!

Much better than yesterday's disappointment.

Are you going to review the N64 version too? Cuz it was quite different from the PS1 version (particularly including several characters unique to that game).

Though, like how yesterday's review never mentioned the Skriix, I noticed that this review neglects to mention Megatron X.

Also, when you mentioned secondary color schemes for the characters, you said Cheetor's looked like his red "Wal-Mart" redeco. That redeco wasn't a "Wal-Mart redeco" (Rattrap and Tripredacus Agent were the only ones who got that treatment), it was his "Fox Kids redeco" that was available in a general retail release.

Overall, this review makes me regret not renting the this game (or more specifically the N64 version) from Blockbuster many years ago when I had the chance.

So how many kids (and parents) do you think went mad crazy looking for a Ravage after seeing it here?
I liked the game but I never did unlock the hidden characters. How exactly were you supposed to do that?

@Sabr: are you disappointed in my review or the game? T_T

Megatron X wasn't in this game, he was only in the N64 version. And as far as the Skriix go, don't worry, they weren't important in the PS/PC game, so it's not like the review is missing anything.

And, oh you're right! My bad on the Fox Kids/Wal-Mart Exclusive thing, I'll correct that.
EDIT: Rectified!

@Chaos Bringer: They were unlocked with codes. You can see the codes here:
I know I for one was one of the kids who went NUTS looking for Ravage. I eventually ended up buying one off of eBay for $91. Ugh, so expensive, but so worth it...

I actually like the sound of this game. They should definitely relaunch it as a Wiiware.

If they release any through Virtual Console/Wiiware, it'll more than likely be the N64 version. They did release Convoy no Nazo in Japan on VC, but not stateside.

Nah, I'm not disappointed in your review. I liked it.

Again, will you be reviewing the N64 version too?

Hey, now where's the fun in doing reviews if I tell you guys what reviews I'm doing?
Sabrblade said,  - 2009-07-28 13:37:07
Okay, okay. I'll let surprise me. Hope the rest are as good as (or better than) today's. Keep'em coming.

Oh, jeez, now there's pressure... -_-
Now I've gotta read over 'em and make sure they're up to stuff...

Nice Review. I'd love to play this game.

If you have a PlayStation or a PlayStation 2 (or even an early model of the PlayStation 3), I would totally recommend it, Perc. It gave me and my friends a lot of hours of play time back in the day.

How goes the move?

Thanks for the codes TPR. I'll try those out as soon as I dig out my copy of the game.

I actually DID manage to find a Ravage in a Kaybee Toys back in the day. It was very prominently displayed and priced at a premium so it would appear that the store owner had one specially imported. I really wish I had gotten it especially since I've learned that it was a Japanese exclusive but again that premium pricing.

No problem, Chaos. Enjoy!
