TFA Voyagers Thudercracker and Blackout

GenZhao of KOToys has put up galleries of the upcoming Transformers Animated Voyager class figures Thundercracker and Blackout.

Thundercracker, previously released solely as an Activator, is a redeco of the Voyager Class Starscream mold, representing the the character of the Egomaniac Starscream clone seen in the season 2 finale and season 3 opener of the Animated cartoon. His gallery compares him to his fellow Seeker-mold figures.

Blackout, is a completely new mold, representing an Earth Mode body of the Blackout character who also appeared in the season 3 opener (in his Cybertron Mode body) as a member of Team Chaar. His design, like his animation model, seems to be an obvious homage to the Movie 1 character of the same name (whose lookalike, Grindor, recently appeared in the climatic mid-movie battle scene of the ROTF film).

Keep in mind that Blackout seems to suffer from the same condition that Voyagers Bulkhead and Lugnut and Deluxes Soundwave and Swindle have suffered: being large in animation, but short in toy form (though Bulkhead's Leader figure redeemed him of this flaw).

Blackout's forehead crest may seem damaged, but this particular figure (as well as Thundercracker) is not the final product, and this may be corrected for the mass production version.

Also, a large Starscream knockoff is picured for comparison as well. So, do not be deceived by that figure's size to think that the Thundercracker and Blackout figures are shorter than they appear, when it is really that Screamer knockoff that is large.

I think they need to make Blackout less bulky and his head should be a little bigger.

They need to make the toys the scale based on how large they ae in the show. The whole class system of delux, vorager, leader, etc. really makes it hard.

Never gonna happen, Nobody. Leader toys are the most expensive of the regular size class (anything larger is usually a special case) and they're quite risky to produce since if they don't sell well, it would be a huge loss to Hasbro. Which is why Leader toys are usually prominent characters in the fiction which everybody knows. The last time they made a Leader toy of a lesser character was Movie Brawl and before that, I don't remember. Blackout and even Lugnut would not sell well as toys since they weren't advertised much in the show.

So given the characters being given toys of various differing sizes, its probably best to display Legends and Activators toys next to Voyagers who are supposed to be much larger than a Voyager.

Blackout looks like EPIC WIN, except for the dang size problem! Argh!

Also, what's with all the excitement over Thundercracker? Starscream is such a crappy mold. I do want to see Slipstream, but only if they once again use the Activator mold that I have yet to buy.

TFA is such an unappreciated line. I honestly thought that it was the best thing since Beast Wars. The fact that a lot of possible figures got canned because of RotF upsets me greatly. I'm excited to see any new TFA figures at all at this point.

Any word on a release date for these buggers? I'd like to add them both to my collection, not to mention Arcee and Soundblaster, which I assume will ship with them.
