&qReportedly, from the upcoming ROTF DVD release, an easter egg interview featuring (director) Michael Bay debunks previous concerns of (producer) Lorenzo di Bonaventura concerning a certain large plot item. Click on the title to read on.

IGN: We did a poll on IGN asking the audience which Transformers they'd most like to see in part three, and the big winner was Unicron, so what are the chances of his making it into the next film?

LDB: Unicron worries me because it's so big that it dwarves emotion. It's so hard, because when you're working to that scale, it sort of becomes outside any kind of human reality you have. It's obviously a great character, and one that we're definitely going to talk about, but for me personally - and I'm not the only vote here - that one scares me. Because of its size, it becomes sort of impersonal when it gets to that scale.

I remember seeing the second Fantastic Four and Galactcus, and suddenly I was in another world and it took it away from the human characters. One of the tricky parts about Transformers is you've got these five-to-six foot things called humans, then you've got the 32-foot Transformers, then you come to Devastator and you've got 125-feet. You become increasingly small on a physical level, and I think that's true on a story level. I think if you go to Unicron, you're going to end up sacrificing your human characters. And for me that worries me because I like the human characters.

But rumors are spinning from a Press Roundtable with Transformers Revenge of the Fallen DVD Writers and VAs on TFormers.com that an easter egg from the Upcoming ROTF DVD/Blu-Ray release where director MichaelBay apparently drops some heavy hints that planet eating, world ending force of evil Unicron will make an appearance.
The report states that: "Although Bay didn’t give any specifics and wouldn’t commit to any details the secret video does allude strongly to the presence of Unicron in the third movie." Click here to read the whole article

" I think if you go to Unicron, you're going to end up sacrificing your human characters. And for me that worries me because I like the human characters."

Cry me a river if the humans don't get to be the focus of the entire film. Note to the filmmakers in case they have forgotten. This film series isn't called "Sam Witwicky" it's called "TRANSFORMERS". Humans are not who the story is about. They are only a necessary evil whose importance becomes increasingly diminished as the Transformers themselves take prominence. Part of the tragedy of TRANSFORMERS is how the humans become so completely devastated by a war that isn't theirs.

For the most part, I agree with you, Chaos Bringer. The focus should be more on the Transformers than the human characters, but not neglecting the humans.
That's what the shows and comics were mostly about: humans and Transformers all in this war.
The major problem I have Micheal Bay's films is that he places the focus almost completely on the humans, and the Transformers become more like plot points. I can barely think of any character development among the Transformers. Even Bumblebee isn't given development, but instead made into the slightly cutsey robot defender of the main (human) character. Not to mention, he can't even speak!

Maybe Bumblebee should have been more like his cartoon self, the small bot that isn't made for fighting, but suddenly finds himself in a role where he needs to fight, and possibly has an upgrade. Instead, Bumblebee is made into a warrior from the get go. Not that I have a complaint with that specifically, but I just want character growth.

I wholly agree, the movies focus far too much on the humans to the point where the Transformers are often treated like just machines and not living sentient characters of their own. I don't want to see another story where the fate of the world rests on Sam. I want the fate of the world to rest on the characters that can actually do something, the Transformers!

I have lost a lot of hope for TF3 though. I blame Ehren Kruger for the things in TF2 I didn't like, and that Orci and Kurtzman had to rush the screenplay due to the writers strike. The movie's bad editing I blame on Michael Bay. However Orci & Kurtzman, who I think are some of the best screenplay writers I've ever seen (TF and Star Trek being their recent accomplishments) are confirmed to not be writing the screenplay for TF3, leaving it to Ehren Kruger, who did all the stuff I didn't like in TF2.

I don't know how this movie can do better than the first two when it's writer is a guy that kept the 2nd from being a huge step up from the first.

Oh for the love of Pete Townshend-Mr. de Bonaventura, if you're afraid of the loss of the human characters, then just have movie 3 all robots! It worked for "Robots" in 2005.

LBD abviously doesn't have that much experience with transformers fans. to make a better movie you always make bigger stronger characters. spider-man for example every movie after the first one had two or more villans. what doesn't make sense is they are showing you transformers flying to cybertron. why not have unicron? because it "that one scares me of its size". come on.
Unicron must be in part 3 anything involving him has been a smash hit there were 3 transformers series (armada energon and cybertron) called the UNICRON trilogy imagine a live action movie with unicron it would be the most astounding movie ever made a world-wide blockbuster sensation!!!

Lemme guess, In Transformers 3, Sam is somehow going to aide in the destruction of Unicron. Screw the humans. Its called Transformers!

Unicron in TF3 has potential for greatness or disaster... I'm not sure I'm excited for it. As bizarrely as the Constructicons were handled in ROTF, I'm not sure I want/need to see Unicron in the third film.

What I most want is more human/robot and robot/robot interaction; more bot personality. I want new characters to be more than metal standing behind a large blaster, continuously blazing. I'm not sure that Unicron's presence has any chance of accomplishing this goal.
Sabrblade said,  - 2009-10-20 07:26:06
Amen to that, Perceptor. Unicron would probably be something like F4:RotSS Galactus Ver. 2.0.
Chaos Bringer said,  - 2009-10-20 16:33:13
It may be too soon for Unicron. There will always be time later. Hasbro and Paramount will keep this thing going as long as it makes the kind of money it has, and considering that each film will have a higher budget and therefore more robot action, interest is unlikely to wane. Imaginge what it will take to top the forest fight. Now imagine that they manage to do it. I'd pay to see that.

Personally I'd like to see the Shockwave takes over storyline at some point. It's tradition and it would be interesting to see how Shockwave would lead the Decepticons versus how we've seen Megatron lead. I bet Shockwave would have much clearer objectives and thus lend to a clearer plot.

I can kind of see where the procucer is coming from, Unicron's a big Mo'Fo! Would he even get speaking parts? How would Megan Fox work into this is my main concern? Lol,Haha. C'mon! She's sooooo pretty!
megatron said,  - 2009-10-21 11:34:52
i think unicron should be seen in the very last movie. hopefully the 6th movie if we get there.
cyberwuss said,  - 2009-10-21 17:13:29
I'd rather see more of cybertron than have unicron in TF3, like an end battle on cybertron or something.

O goody. UNICRON.
Rodimus said,  - 2009-10-23 19:12:11
ROTF had no plot at all! what does it matter if you add in Unicron? With Bay at the helm the movie isn't going to make sense anyway. ROTF is one of the worst movies I have seen in a long time. I can't believe how disappointing that movie was on so many levels. There needs to be another director and writer for the next movie or this franchise is done!
TF fan1 said,  - 2009-10-25 20:12:05
Aw man! I was trying to make my own TF video game with Unicron so what else am I suposed to do! all though it would be kind of cool to see Unicron on the big screen.

By the way Rodimus your sort of right but you don't find many directors that use real explosives and real cars to be thrown around.

If we do include Unicron in the third installment, I'm hoping to get Mickey Rourke from Iron Man 2 to voice him since he has a deep voice.
