Atop the Fourth Wall reviews "Transformers #4-5"

Internet video reviewer Linkara of ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com has released the latest episode of his satirical comic book review web show Atop the Fourth Wall (where bad comics burn), in which he reviews "Transformers #4-5". Specifically, he reviews issues 4 and 5 of the 2002 Dreamwave Productions Transformers: Generation One mini-series "Prime Directive".

He notes the flaws of the artwork, storytelling, and some of the dialogue, while also complementing some of the few enjoyable bits, as well as making humorous remarks and comments about other parts of these two comic issues.

This is kind of nitpicky, but I wouldn't exactly call Linkara's show "satire", per say. A lot of Spoony's stuff, Bum Reivews, and similar shows where the reviewer plays a character are satire, but Linkara's hate of these comics is played completely straight.

I haven't read these comics or watched linkara review but from what I read on gamespot/gamefaqs board about the same review, I think linkara is just a sad loser :< that makes me kind of biased against watching it to begin with.

This guy is hilarious. ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com is hilarious! The whole point of this site that it's full of reviewers who, well, review things. They point out the faults and flaws, as well as the pros and postives, of whatever it is that they review, while making jokes and humorous enterainment about the subjects at hand.

And they mostly review lackluster material because that's the stuff that's most popular and gets the most laughs. In the words of the Atop the Fourth Wall theme song:
"There would be better books on his show,
But Quesada sold them to Mephisto,
And now there's nothing left to do,
But share the scraplings at the bottom of the barrel with you." XD

Aside from his reviews of bad comics, Linkara is also doing a "History of power Rangers" segemtn where he does a serious analysis of each of those series, and only one of those has been negative: Turbo, the series that almost killed the franchise. Yet, that review was probably the funniest of all the HoPR reviews.

My argument for why TGWTG.com is awesome is because they just picked up Vangelus.

And @cyberwuss, don't believe everything you read on Gamespot. (cough kaneandlynchdeadmen cough)

As a current day Transformer comic reader, and as one who has read said series of comics (that was actually the series that got me into the whole Transformer comic series to begin with), I say I somewhat agree with this guy. The nitpicks are there, and all valid I believe. I don't dwell on too many of them, except a few things:
Spike indeed acts pretty stupid, in how he for a while lumps all the Transformers together as being no good, and then the whole size thing is ridiculous (no way Devestator should be the height of a skyscraper, yet able to hold in in the palm of his hand an Arielbot who moments ago was Superion, a robot of about equal size).
At the time I was impressed by the art, but now, after having seen artwork by guys like Don Figuola, yes, Pat Lee isn't that great. The style, and how he draws legs way too big, and he screws up how Optimus looks and transforms too.
But at least it mostly seems to go uphill from that series (War Within volume 1 was released shortly thereafter).
