Check it out!  Our friend Hydra of the Allspark.com's TF Pulp, has posted a fantastic article with insiders info on the behind-the-scenes development of the TFTM G1 Unicron toy!  Translating Japanese from the pages of this previously unknown book, he reveals that the toy was to have electronic sounds, including lines by Orson Welles himself!  In addition, the article includes info about the Takara designers who worked on Transformers toys back then, commentary and more.  Very cool indeed!

Cool! So now we may have solved the mystery between the two Unicron prototypes! The one believed to be the "Takara" version (this one: http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/5/56/G1toy-UnicronprotoTakara.jpg) could be the initial, smaller prototype that Kōjin Ōno designed first. And the one believed to be the "Hasbro" version (this one: http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/e/e4/G1toy-UnicronprotoHasbro.jpg) could be the second, larger prototype that Ōno-san worked on, including the electronic Orson Welles quotes!

Now that's another thing that's new. The fact that they actually got 10 Unicron quotes from Mr. Welles on tape, and that 6 of these were put into the second proto! Now that is just awesome.

Great find, Perc! Great find, indeed!
