oh. Well it could be worse. Megan Fox could be in it.

Couldn't watch it via that link, but I did see it elsewhere - http://www.3news.co.nz/Transformers-Dark-of-the-Moon-trailer/tabid/1068/articleID/190092/Default.aspx

Not as action-packed as the ROTF trailer, but definitely conveys the sense of awe and mystery of the first movie's teaser.

Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldren landed on the moon and found a crashed Cybertronian spaceship. Lotta cool-looking wreckage inside. Plus, an old geezer-looking bot? Looks different from the "Einstein-esque" bot head we've seen previously. This guy's got a gold body and Gundam horns.

Looks kinda like what would have been a cooler premise for the first movie than the whole frozen Megatron deal.
Agent X said,  - 2010-12-08 18:44:49
that ship reminds me of the Dark Side (or what ever the predicon's ship was)

any one else think that "old yellow" will be the fire truck
Wing Saber said,  - 2010-12-08 19:24:51
That bot almost looks like a small unicron...
Perceptor said,  - 2010-12-08 19:35:38
My first thought seeing the old looking bot was, "Alpha Trion." We shall see!

Yeah, ship looked like Dark Syde or however it's spelled, the predacon ship from Beast Wars! So far, so good. Lookin' great.
Wing Saber said,  - 2010-12-08 19:39:09
actually, I think that they're kind of going off of Energon. That's Rodimus, He and a team of Autobots left Cybertron long ago, and that's their ship
Sabrblade said,  - 2010-12-08 19:44:20
@Agent X and Perceptor: To me it looked more like the Nemesis seen in ROTF, but then I realized that it couldn't have been, given its location. The Darksyde is possible, though it's placement on the Moon does mess up the pun of its Japanese name: the "Terra Crusher" (which is pronounced exactly like "Terra Crasher") LOL

@Wing Saber: I doubt it. Energon is last thing that the films would intentionally reference. Besides, if there is gonna be a Movie Rodimus, he'll most likely be inspired by G1 Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime, as that's who's remembered best.
Saberfrost said,  - 2010-12-08 20:36:30
I think that it is a prime, asleep for thousands of years, awaken, and then goes back to slumber for a reason.
And too yellow to be a decepticon!
Perceptor said,  - 2010-12-08 20:56:04
Good point Saberfrost. The yellow suggests good guy to me too. The fact that he's in some sort of emergency stasis lock, with eyes open... His posture, the expression, the blue iris eyes... all suggest Autobot to me. if that was a slumbering Decepticon, he would look much more sinister: eyebrows lowered scowling, red eyes.

Notice that he had the beard-like plates on his chin? That bears a little resemblance to ROTF Jetfire, and that's how the movie makers denote "old." When I think very old good-guy, I think Alpha Trion. Who, by the way *is* one of the Primes. That's my theory and I'm stickin' to it until it's proven otherwise!
HolyGrail said,  - 2010-12-08 21:07:45
Vector Prime anyone? Whilst not as universally loved/known as Alpha Trion he fits the mold of "one of the Primes", if only by name. Definitely an Autobot though.
Wing Saber said,  - 2010-12-08 22:03:59
yellow suggests good guy? I believe we are forgeting that the most evil transformer of all... unicron... Is yellowish Orange
Sabrblade. said,  - 2010-12-09 07:14:42
Maybe Sentinel Prime? After all, one of the rumors for this movie is that Sentinel Prime appears. And in ROTF, Sam mentioned Sentinel Prime going on some expedition in his Astronomy Class ramble.
TTFan '85 said,  - 2010-12-09 09:14:03
I think it could be one of 3 people. The first is a smaller unicron, the second could be Sential Prime, but I think it could be Vector Prime because of the old man features that the bot had. Not only that becasue of the eyes it could not be Unicron becasue the blue eye color. The Decepticons had red eyes, this bot had blue like the Autobots!!!
lioconvoy said,  - 2010-12-09 09:59:16
ok ... hear we go how interesting

sentinal, vector, trion, kup, any other ancient transformers anyone can think of?

not action packed but interesting
meagain said,  - 2010-12-09 10:00:39
I think its Unicron. Movie/comic book Unicron. The color of his eyes do not matter if it is Unicron when compared to autobots or decepticons, he is not aligned or affiliated with either side.
Sabrblade. said,  - 2010-12-09 10:04:39
I still say Sentinel is a good bet, as this old video of the Chicago filming has a guard say that Sentinel Prime is in the film - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWCkIggT8yk
Alpha Blade said,  - 2010-12-09 12:18:46
I agree with percepter, first thought was A3, Second was TF Cybertron Unicron, and third could be shockwave. Theres no telling until the movie comes out, or Micheal gives us more info. Also have you ever seen a yellow Sentinel in any continuity.
Sabrblade said,  - 2010-12-09 12:30:18
Looking at the bot again, his shoulders are of a similar shape to those of Vector Prime and G1 Strarscream's Coronation shoulder pads.
This trailer looks so awesome, there's no way the movie can be any good.
Perceptor said,  - 2010-12-09 21:17:10
I guess, but Bay doesn't pay too much attention to the colors in previous incarnations. Everything about this guy, his posture, his open eyes, the colors... all suggest to me this is an Autobot --or at least a good guy, like one of the Primes.

BUT, MY THEORY ABOUT UNICRON IN DOTM STILL STANDS! For the sake of discussion let us call the space that the silver-gold old looking Transformer is in, let's call that a "shaft."

NOTICE:

1.) The ship, lying on the moon is roughly horizontal.

2.) The camera angle then goes to the opening between the moon surface and the inside of the ship. Notice that you can still see the horizon. It is, as you'd expect: horizontal.

3.) Then, the camera pans into the "shaft." Check it out! the shaft is a distinctly different angle than the rest of the ship. It seems to run perpendicular to the angle of the ship and the surface of the moon!

4.) It's almost like it's going into the moon! Now what if the shaft is actually NOT part of the ship, but a tunnel into the moon.

5.) That's right dudes, what if that tunnel is actually a part of Unicron? And that yellow 'bot and his crew are responsible for forcing the Chaos Bringer into dormancy?

Yeah, I know. Crazy rant by a fanboy reading a lot into it. But this is my theory, and I'm continuing to stick to it, till proven wrong!
Sabrblade said,  - 2010-12-09 21:42:01
I've said this before, but I just gotta say it again. IF Unicron is the Earth's Moon, that concept brings up a few questions:

1. Do you really want them to go in the direction of ripping off the Armada cartoon with this very idea?

2. What interest would Unicron have with Earth (aside from a "it looks yummy" excuse)? He's always focused on Cybertron before (becuase of Primus), and the two Movie MacGuffins (the AllSpark and Matrix) have already been destroyed.

3. Being the size of Earth's Moon would make him uber tiny, so how would be able to chow down on giant planets without being able to iconically swallow them whole any more?
Perceptor said,  - 2010-12-09 22:19:22
1.) First off, Armada Fanon for me is the comics. That series was great. I didn't watch those shows enough rememeber that. Yeah, I wouldn't care if they ripped that off.

2.) Earth has the Allspark on it! Essence of Unicron's eternal enemy, Primus! Many reasons to come to Earth!

3.) Unicron's logic is: "As soon as I devour the Earth then I'll be bigger." So yeah, I wouldn't mind that either! :) Besides, Unicron is smaller than Cybertron in TFTM, plus scale is pretty irrelevant when you're talking a planet sized TF!
lioconvoy said,  - 2010-12-10 02:32:10
interesting if unicron was the moon but i dout it tbh.

nice if it was though
Wing Saber said,  - 2010-12-10 08:00:18
I think it's Vector Prime now. remember there was a gold-ish recolor of him? that, or I think it's Rodimus
lioconvoy said,  - 2010-12-10 09:02:58
ok hears a long shot for you old school fans out there ...
perhaps it could emerat zarun or geiaxus

maybe grimlock or rodimus but to be honest i am leaning towards sentinal or maybe even kup
Sabrblade said,  - 2010-12-10 10:32:51
@Perceptor: I just said that the AllSpark was destroyed, remember? As was the Matrix.

For Unicron to want to come to Earth, they'd have to come up with another MacGuffin to get his attention (which I think pretty much likely to happen).

And Primus' presence in the Movies is... sketchy, at best. Being a Multiversal Singularity, WE know he exists there. But of all the Movie media ever to be produced (movies, comics, games, toy bios, webtoons, etc.), he's only ever been mentioned twice, in two contradictory mentionings.

One of these was in The Fallen's profile in the Titan Magazines ROTF comics, which states that legends claim that original Seven Primes were created by Primus, but the Primes do not believe that they were.

The other of these was in the IDW Tales of the Fallen comic, in which the Primes DO believe that Primus created them.

In one source, the Primes deny Primus' existence, in another, they do believe in him. and both of these are official and therefore are canon (maybe not to each other, but to their own respective stories).
Chird said,  - 2010-12-10 11:17:21
I'm really hoping it's Unicron. The yellow coloring, the goatee, the horns he has a number of the correct physical features (though typically Michael Bay-ified).

The strongest piece of evidence that would lend credibility to it being Unicron is how much they totally screwed up The Fallen in the last movie. They didn't even mention Unicron once and considering The Fallen is to Unicron as the Silver Surfer is to Galactus, it's either they didn't want to go there, or they were waiting for a big reveal in the following film.

If it is in fact Unicron it would definitely be a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it's GD Unicron and that's amazing. On the other, it's Michael Bay and his turd-factory, so I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they manufacture their own mythos for him. Like he's a 50-foot tall rogue robot who picks fights with the strongest robots he can find so that he can absord their power Highlander-style. Or he was a robot-orphan as a child and as a result has daddy issues and wants to just break some stuff cuz he's so angsty. Or he accidentally watched the first 2 transformers movies and is coming to earth to hunt down and murder Megan Fox. Actually that sounds like a movie I could watch...
Sabrblade said,  - 2010-12-10 20:02:50
Also, let's not confuse "AllSpark" with "Allspark". The former is a physical talisman, while the latter is an afterlife dimension.
Wing Saber said,  - 2010-12-10 23:18:11
Here are my 3 guesses organized favorite to least favorite
1. Rodimus
2. Vector Prime
3. Mini Unicron (or possibly unicron is the moon and the orange guy is kind of like Armada Sideways)
Anon said,  - 2010-12-11 04:55:58
I think it's either Alpha Trion, Sentinel Prime, Vector Prime, or Silverbolt. No one's mentioned him yet.
lioconvoy said,  - 2010-12-11 17:13:20
perhaps silverbolt but to be honest i dout it.
if we go by that then perhaps the firetruck or tanker could be silverbolt.
with both the tanker and fire truck it was stated that it could upset fans because it would be a caricter people wouldn't assosiate with the alt mode.
vector, sentinal, trion or rodimus are good guesses and silverbolt could verry well be the bot however personally i am leaning towards sentinal.

saying that, perhaps it is a recker? maybe impactor
Sabrblade said,  - 2010-12-11 22:34:02
Bringing up the fire truck, the film guard on the Chicago set who mentioned Sentinel's appearance in this film indicated that Sentinel is the fire truck (and Optimus Prime's "father", whatever that means).
lioconvoy said,  - 2010-12-12 03:27:48
optimus prime's father and a fire truck? makes sence to me XD
Perceptor said,  - 2010-12-12 11:36:15
I still think that tunnel where the old bot is, is not in the ship. It looks like part of the moon to me. Which leads me to believe that in Movieverse, Earth's moon is Unicron, lying dormant.

The Allspark wasn't destroyed until modern day earth via Sam Witwicky and Megatron. If the moon is actually Unicron in disguise, then he got here a LONG time ago. And my theory is, he has been lying there, dormant since Alpha Trion (or whoever that old bot is) did something to shut him down... We shall see!

It's like Christmas all year! The speculation and anticipation will continue until July 1! Awe-yeah!
lioconvoy said,  - 2010-12-12 15:04:26
perhaps the gold bot on the moon was entrentched there to stop unicron from invading to destroy the allspark and matrix in the past or maybe like perceptor says unicron is the moon. likely if not expected but even so, perhaps in the movie verse unicron would be around earth is to destroy the primes or as is the case now the last prime
Sabrblade said,  - 2010-12-13 22:37:37
Though, if Unicron does appear in this film, it wouldn't be the first time that he's shown up in the Movieverse (A.K.A. Tyran). This image comes to mind - http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/5/51/Unicron_Titan19.JPG
prime 13 said,  - 2010-12-19 16:14:26
the ship looks like the fallons ship on TF2 so it has to be prime i think it is vector prime
Unicron 25 said,  - 2011-01-08 12:40:34
I think that the moon is unicorn and the robot is sentinel prime,I also think that way back in the past that sentinel found a way to put unicron in a dormant state in which doing so also put him into a dormant state in witch they where knocked into orbit...and for all u people trying to base the whole movie of the cartoons, let's remember that megaton is supposted to be way bigger than optimis so it dosent matter what the size is
TF Glory Days said,  - 2011-02-03 09:27:12
I can see where most of you are coming from and i honestly can say i agree with the Unicron being the moon and is dormant due to _____ Prime who had to tie/sacrifice his spark to scilence Unicron....he hoped forever but evil little megatron has other ideas...and so The 2-3 primes that the movie may hold 1 being optimus of course will band together to stop the Chaos that is Unicron...and will save the fleshlings once more from extinction
Trepidation said,  - 2011-02-23 17:47:50
It must suck to have to wait for another few months to know for sure huh? I am looking forward to the movie but given the way hollywood declares "WE CAN MAKE IT BETTER" war on classic stories I will hope for good but be prepared to have my inner child wounded by some Hollywood exec's effrontery to a cartoon I lived and breathed as a child.
