Brian at 2007-06-21 8:15 am has an extensive interview with Michael Bay about Transformers, including why the humourous tone of the movie, how fan reaction fits in, why he's so hard on the actors, why the actors seem to love him anyway, etc. etc.

This one lady goes, ‘This kinds of reinvents super heroes.’ She said this great line. She goes, ‘We’re tired of the suits and the whatever. This is totally new and different.’ Anyway, it’s still nerve-wracking, you know what I’m saying?..."
