Allspark Power Night Watch Optimus Prime out in USA

The Allspark website reports here about store sightings of the new Allspark Power Transformers the Live Action Movie Toyline's Night Watch Optimus Prime Leaderclass toy.

The interesting thing about him is that it's not the same toy as the Argos Exclusive UK version shown here which came out some months ago, it gains loads of pale blue paint and extra gold decoration, and also transluscent windows on the new USA version. Though this makes little difference to the truck modes between the two items but adds some colors the original lacked.

This gives the new USA version a very similar effect to the new Target Exclusive Allpark Power Repaints thus Making it almost like it's a before and after allspark powering up toy.

You can see some loose images of the USA version here

UK Releases :

The latest UK Transformer Deluxe wave is slowly starting to creep out Recon Barricade has shown up on it's own in UK Store Woolworths packed as an individual item - in large numbers, and The Entertainer has also had Payload and Dropkick.

Also the most recent 3 Star Wars Transformers are starting to show up too - especially in ASDA stores.

Hopefully the New Argos catalogue and the UK Toyfair will give more info as to what UK transfans can expect in the future soon.

As cool as NW Prime looks, I think I'll still pass. He just doesn't seem that appealling to me.

What class are those Target Exclusives? They all look like Deluxe... Maybe even Leader...?

Stevie, they are basically the same toys as the original deluxes, with blue paint applications applied to them. At least that's what they look like to me.

Master Megatron and Stevie, you're both right, if you take a closer look at the pics. Nightwatch Optimus Prime looks almost appealing as the 2005 DTC G.I. Joe Cobra Night Watch set (if any of you heard of it).

The Target exclusives are Deluxes packed in robot mode and hi-lighted in blue.

But other "Allspark Power" toys share the blue hi-lights as a feature - basically think of the 2007 ones as the normal Product and these as 2008 ASP versions of the same character.

I suppose they might be considered to be either a bit like the Super-mode Car Robot Brothers with the blue standing in for a color change - or I suppose another way to maybe look at it is a bit like TM2 Cheetor's Spark healing - perhaps they just got damaged or are outputting a lot of power for strength or Weapons and that change in power state = a blue glow.

Much of the 2008 line has a blue glow - it's almost a surprise now when I see something in the movie line that does not have blue paint on it.

NightWatch Optimus is not the only new one to come glowy and non glowy depending on the version the Osprey Helicopter does too the American one is "Allspark powered" the Japanese one is less so.

Oh the Allspark thread quoted above has more bigger images in it now.
