1991 Transformers!

Posted by:

Remember the days back in 1991, you probably thought that Generation 1 Transformers had come to an end, and like us, you were incorrect!  One just had to look (a lot) harder to find the new toys!  Now, permanently linked in the right hand navigation bar of our main index page,  you'll find the all new 1991 Transformers Section, including box pictures for the extremely rare European Action Masters and Japanese Battlestars: Return of Convoy.  Good luck guessing what comes next!

The exo-suits were fun toys. I had Circuit and Thundercracker as a kid. I did want Slicer and Rumbler too but I was moving away from Transformers allowing other toylines (Monster in my Pocket) to get a significant part of my money I was given. I don't remember ever owning any of the AM Elites.

Next? I'm guessing Euro G1 like Turbomasters, Predators, Rescue Force, Motorvators and Overlord. I wonder if Classics (reissues of 1984 and 1985 toys) will get done too. And sometime Euro G2.

Bravo BP! Way to fill in the gap and add this very much needed content to the site!

Its Super Megatron, not Super Galvatron. He's then upgraded to Ultra Megatron, then fuses with Dark Nova to become Star Giant.

BTW, you guys forgot several micromaster sets for the Battlestars line that each came with a Micro Trailer:
Big Truck Team
Hot Rod Team
Military Team
Shuttle Rocket W Team
Fire Tanker W Team
Radar Hover W Team
Dump Shovel W Team
Crane Cannon W Team
Jet Tank W Team
Rescue Patrol Team
Battle Patrol Team
Super Car Patrol Team

wow,i was just about to mail you guys about why that year was missing.
Bass X0 said,  - 2008-03-20 10:41:23
speaking of missing years, where is 1999 in the toy reviews section?
FortMax said,  - 2008-03-20 11:00:19
You left out Flame, Gripper, Lightspeed and Overlord. All four were released in 1991.

Also, Rumbler and Slicer were soled as "Motorized Action Master Exo-Suits", whereas Thundercracker and Circuit were just "Action Master Exo-Suits"
Byrer prime said,  - 2008-03-20 12:06:17
Well, we're trying to focus on new releases. The Micromasters listed above were already released in the US in 1990, albeit without the trailer. The Motorvators (Flame, Gripper, Lightspeed) and Overlord were released in Japan in 1989 and 1988 respectively. Consideration will be given in that character's page to their European release name. But those pages are on the long list of items yet to be completed, along with some years in the reviews section.

What a bizarre thing! To be sitting here, from my perspective after all the years of doing what I do... and now to get to sit back and listen to all this and not have to be the one defending the decisions... Way to go BP! Way to be on top of things! Pure craziness!

fasinating windmall looks cool
Sabrblade said,  - 2008-03-20 15:23:12
Well, BP, the Motorvators and the Road Caesar Brainmasters may be the same molds, but not the same colors. On the other pages, you guys listed the Japanese characters that had a U.S. toy in different colors, so why not for these guys.

BUT, if what you're saying is true, then why did you include images of Cab, Wilder, Bullhorn, Cancer, Lightfoot, and Road King in the Masterforce section when their toys are EXACTLY THE SAME as Hosehead, Fangry, Horri-bull, Squeezeplay, Getaway, and Slapdash? That makes no sense. Since you put them in there, you might as well go back and put in Lander, Diver, Phoenix, Dauros, Blood, Gilmer, King Poseidon (and his components), and ALL the Micromasters you left out, whose toys are ALSO EXACTLY THE SAME as their American counterparts.
Bass X0 said,  - 2008-03-20 16:21:12
The Motorvators are definitely different colors to the Brainmasters and should be counted seperately. Gripper here for example is black and orange, whereas his mold twin Blacker is black and red. Neither are they portrayed to be the same character.

nice job guys! battlestars was always one of my most sought after lines. "Jesus", Er..I mean,"Jason, if you can hear me show me a sign that my SUPA' Megs will be in the custom sections!" lol! I know that I'm probably becoming an annoiance with my seemingly constant asking of the kitbashes but the wait is just killing me! Not only do I want to see mine up and running but also others. And I'd kill to see a custom beast machines megatron control robe right about now. If only justitoys could do something like that.

HA! Well, it's not from JC or even lowly Jason! But you could call me a, "messenger." It's no annoyance at all LM!! (Join my club! and) Keep pestering him!!!! :) Your pix are there. I have seen them. I've seen the latest draft of this "soon" (?) to be announced section...

This new section is coming. It's fully functional, fully interactive, fully organizable, fully awesome in many ways!

Incidentally, I'm only bragging it up, and speaking this way about it, because I had little/nothing to do with this particular project's development. Much/most of its coding is beyond me. It's everything I ever wanted our old outdated Alterations Section to be and more.

All I'll say in J's defense is that, as you may know he's in seminary. And this is kind of a busy time of year for the church, ya know?! BUT that doesn't mean I stop bugging him. And I don't think you should either! :)

Awsome job guys! This just keeps getting better and better.
One question though. Are you guys gonna make a separate section for operation combination and put sixliner there?

was super megatron a toy
Sabrblade said,  - 2008-03-21 16:23:50
No, Super Megs was never a toy. There were absolutely NO Decepticons sold in the Battlestars toyline, even though there were some featured in the Battlestars storyline, most notably Dark Nova, Super Megatron, Ultra Megatron, Star Giant, the Novaroid army, the Galaman army, the Great Novaroid army, and the Great Galaman army.

god i wish that fox would have stayed with transtech!
Sabrblade said,  - 2008-03-21 18:41:33
Ya know Tyscream, now that you have Offroad Ironhide, you could turn him into movie soundwave without having to kitbash him much. You would simply have to turn his head around and give him a red visor. The easiest way to do that without kitbashing would be to purchase Reprolabels' Classics Trailbreaker decals and use the red visor from that (since that set turns movie Ironhide into Classics Trailbreaker). Then you would have to cover the Autobot symbols on him with Decepticon ones. And there you go, Offroad Ironhide is Movie Soundwave.

And Lord Megs, what do you mean a fox should stick to Transtech? What fox?
lord megatron said,  - 2008-03-21 18:56:49
no,no sabr, fox as in FOX kids at the time.
12345678910 said,  - 2008-03-21 18:59:01
was there a Battlestars tv show or comic
Perceptor said,  - 2008-03-21 22:03:08
Not sure what this has to do with the topic, but anyway...
regarding: >>god i wish that fox would have stayed with transtech!<<

I heard from a credible source that that Fox wanted to renew and go w/ Transtech. However Bob Skir and other Transformers story authors backed out because he (Bob) had literally received death threats by WAY over zealous Transformers fans, with anger about their displeasure with Beast Machines...

This is the case of a few bad apples RUINING things for everyone else... sigh. No joke.
lord megatron said,  - 2008-03-21 22:47:11
thanks, why can't people just let things run their course? g1ists need to chill. i would kill for them to renew the series, only prob now is that it's been almost 10 years since and transformers has lost some of its steam. i personally LOVED EVERY EPISODE of beast machines, in fact the only thing that bothered me about the series was that the cgi team mainframe had changed some of the characters sooo much from their toy counterparts. for example, tankor.
Sabrblade said,  - 2008-03-22 10:01:37
12345678910, there was no Battlestars TV show. There was only one manga chapter and a few manga pages. This series, like Zone, Operation: Combination, and JG2, had very small fiction.
Chaos Bringer said,  - 2008-03-22 13:08:49
Actually Battlestars had solid fiction. Having read the story pages myself, I found the story quite complete and the conclusion was most satisfying. Granted it was a cliffhanger but it was conclusive enough for me.

Battlestars deserves another chance IMO.
